“Location is fantastic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2011

Our room overlooked the street, noise was not an issue for me. Location is 2 minute walk to the elevator(there is a charge) straight ahead, that brings you down to the marina or you can walk down yourself no charge. I enjoyed our stay, clean rooms good size. I need basic clean rooms, as we do not spend anytime in our rooms. We had AC and a safe both important to us. Breakfast was good, self serve buffet not american breakfast. We were able to swim at the ascot hotel, their sister hotel, enjoyable since the humidity was high in the 2nd week of September. Their garden was lovely and peaceful with an above ground pool. Happy hour was just in time for us to unwind in the garden before getting ready for dinner. There is an elevator at this hotel.

We found this hotel excellent... Terrific location, lovely friendly staff, good breakfasts, free Internet after 7pm. The hotel rooms are small like most hotels in Italy, but beautifully refurbished. We found the hotel quiet& peaceful though the odd night sound carried through walls, but not enough to impact on our sleep

There is a tiny dipping pool for cooling down but you can use pool facilities of ascot hotel, 7 mins walk away.

Overall very impressed with this hotel& would definitely stay here again.

I would classify this as a very basic hotel. The room was small but very clean. The bathroom was fully tiled and very clean. The TV didn't work when we arrived, but the desk staff fixed it for us. The overhead light was failing and flickered on and off during our stay. We were kept awake by the noise of other guests in the evening and night. Although they were not rowdy, we could plainly hear their conversations so the walls must be thin. The room had a safe and we were given 3 hours of free wi-fi access during our stay. The front desk staff were attentive to our needs in the room, but were not able to provide much advice about restaurants or directions to places. On our departure day, we had to leave early before the breakfast was set up. Unlike our other hotels, they did not offer to provide a small take-away bag with a roll and fruit for us. At 150 Euros per night, we expected a better room and better service and amenities.

This hotel was quite basic but what it lacked in luxury it made up for in location and character! The hotel is in the very heart of Sorrento, each day that we left the hotel it was like stepping into a film set. We were within walking distance of everything - restaurants, bus station etc.
The hotel was amazingly clean and had a lovely little private courtyard for residents to relax in. However, and this is a small thing, the breakfast was poor.
If we return to Sorrento we will certainly stay here again!

Room Tip: Perhaps ask for a room at the back of the hotel, there is a restaurant next door at the front and it...

We actually had booked somewhere else in Sorrento and found it to be too far out of town. Luckily we were able to cancel it and just happened to find Hotel Astoria. They had 2 rooms for us and our friends across the hall from each other. They were fantastic. They are not huge rooms but they have so many cupboards that we were able to completely unpack and really settle in. The bathroom was quite spacious and we also had a good size balcony with a lovely view over the garden, some rooftops, a church tower and a glimpse of the sea. We had a little trouble a couple of times with water pressure but that was soon rectified. The staff were lovely - really friendly and so helpful. The lady cleaning our room was beautiful. The breakfast was good - quite a good selection and we were able to take it into the gorgeous garden. They even had soy milk for me. We loved it here - we could just walk out the door to the restaurant that we went to most nights. And around the corner was a great place for a pre-dinner drink. Also our balcony was lovely spot to sit and enjoy a quiet drink before going out. A bonus too is the small above ground pool in the garden for a quick cool down dip. As mentioned its right in the middle of town so shopping is just too easy and its close to the sea as well. Its perfect. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Spent a week in the Astoria in July 2011. The hotel is in the old centre of the town and is well positioned for sightseeing, dining and travelling from the port. Having previously stayed in La Pace, I found the location so much more convenient. I requested a quiet room on an upper floor and got a room on the third floor. It was very quiet, despite being beside the lift. The room was an average size for Italy. It had a small but adequate bathroom, containing shower, bidet, toilet and sink. The room contained a double bed (mattress and pillow a bit hard for my taste), adequate storage, a safe, a kettle and two mugs, a small fridge and good air conditioning. The room was brightly decorated and very clean. We had a balcony, with table and two chairs, which overlooked the garden/ splash pool. The breakfast was the standard cold self-service type and adequate. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. For a quite hotel, with excellent location I would recommend this hotel.

They did not have our reservation when we arrived. Woman at the desk was rude. The room she finally found for us had a hole in the ceiling, lose faucet on the sink, bag left from previous guest, coffee pot with dirty water, and the shower did not drain... and not one clean table at breakfast...The pool is a doughboy!
