“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

This was our fourth trip to Sorrento and by far the best hotel we have stayed in. From the moment we walked into the hotel we were made to feel so welcome. The hotel is set on top of a cliff and the views from it are amazing. The private bathing platform attached to the hotel is fabulous and we had no problems getting sunbeds. The gardens are lovely to walk round or just to sit in and relax. Our room was in the attic and the balcony was small but it was quiet where we were situated and kept spotlessly clean by the maid. The staff were all really polite and helpful and when we were leaving and our taxi from the holiday company was delayed they even went out of their way to telephone and sort things out for us. I can't wait to go back next year.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a sea view room you can't beat the views.

I agree with the other reviewers, The Abasciatori is one of the best hotels we have been in. The views, the tranquil gardens where you can relax with a drink or dinner are to die for. Our room had a balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius and regular cruise ships docking outside our window. We walked into town every day and the whole atmosphere of Sorrento was busy and we felt very safe.
The staff were unobtrusive but there if you needed them and the breakfast buffet was excellent.

Room Tip: Go for the extra cost for a sea view room.

We were very impressed with this hotel. Lovely clean rooms, very friendly and helpful staff, very good amenities and excellent location being very close to the city centre and train/ coach station. The breakfast buffet had a good selection of continental/ Mediterranean and English food.

We stayed in this hotel on our honeymoon and had a great time. We had originally booked a deluxe suite with a partial sea view, but they upgraded us to a suite with a balcony looking out over the Bay of Naples.

The room was nice and clean, the breakfast food was very good, the dinner was good also (try the risotto), and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

As far as location goes, the hotel is farther than I originally thought from Sorrento's city center. This got a obnoxious pretty quickly. Anytime we wanted to go out we had to walk 2 miles in the heat before we were there. If you are willing to splurge on a taxi every time you go out or are renting a car then the location is fantastic and very beautiful. For walkers you may want to look at one of the Maniello hotels that is a little closer in.

Overall my only complaints about the hotel were that it was a little impersonal, the bed was as hard as a rock, and I felt that some of the extra services were overpriced. €4 for a bag of chips from the mini bar is pretty ridiculous to me when the same bag of chips is €1.50 at the store right down the road.

Also, if you do stay here. Note that the pool closes at 6:30 p.m. I felt that this was a little early considering most hotel pools stay open until 11 p.m.

Despite this we still had a wonderful time there and I would definitely recommend this to people looking for a place to stay in Sorrento.

This is one of the best hotels I have ever been to. The staff will go to any lengths to ensure your stay is perfect, the rooms are lovely, the pool area is peaceful, and the views over the Bay of Naples are incredible. It's worth making the trip down to the beach and having a walk around the private gardens.

Room Tip: Pay extra for the sea view - it's worth it!

stayed with my family for a week in two rooms in august 2013, and although I paid the same for the rooms, my room 711 had a much bigger balcony (than 714) - although both had great sea views. The hotel is very clean and beautifully furnished and the staff mostly very friendly, especially the beach staff who go out of their way to help. Room service and maid service also very efficient and good.
Food at breakfast all you could ask for. After reviews we decided to walk into town for dinner and found some great places around the main square, so as long as you can make the 15 min walk each way its a great base.
Booked the Capri trip with reception, and it was fantastic like having our own power boat, but take extra cash as a round of drinks for 4 cost me 50 euro.
If you are going to Pompeii and Herculaneum (stop further along the same line) take the train from Sorrento, they run ever 30 mins. Do not get suckered into the tourist bus from Herculaneum just walk straight down the hill.
