“Great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

This hotel is in the heart of Sorrento and our very fresh and appealing room had a small balcony overlooking the street. It is useful to note that access is limited in summer after 7pm as the street is totally closed to traffic. Still, it was only a flat walk until we reached our destination and were warmly greeted by Elena. Photos show stairs near reception but there is a small lift there as well. It stops between levels so there are a few steps to negotiate. We loved the pride Pepe took in managing the breakfast area and providing the best coffee we had in Italy. And Aussie born Silvana was delightful and very helpful from our initial email contact until our reluctant departure. Like another reviewer, we were a little disappointed with the Capri tour. Our captain was very difficult to understand but was clearly trying to please everyone. It made for a long day with a touch of nausea as he drove very slowly along the coast and stopped to allow some to swim. The blue grotto visit created a lot of confusion as some on the boat expected it while others didn't. He indicated a 1-1.5 hr wait before transferring to the small row boats that took us into the grotto but met resistance when trying to leave the area. Priority is given to boatloads that come from Capri which is why it can be a lengthy wait for others. So, give consideration to a fast ferry ride to Capri and then the grotto from there. All in all though, we loved the Sorrento area and Hotel Palazzo Tasso and could have stayed longer than our 3 nights.

Room Tip: We had a room at the front and weren't bothered by street noise at all.

This hotel was an absolute delight. My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in September and absolutely loved it. Situated just off the main street Corso Italia and Pizza Tasso it was right in the heart of the action. From the moment we checked in we were made to feel right at home by Silvana, a lovely expat Australian. In fact the other staff members, Elena and Pepe were an absolute delight providing great service in the kitchen and at reception. The hotel looked like it had been recently refurbished and our room was no exception with spotless modern decor, marble bathroom and a very comfortable bed. The only small issue was we had to negotiate a few steps with our luggage after exiting the very small lift in which only 2 people can fit. In fact it took 2 trips with our luggage. The balcony over the Corso Italia gave you a birds eye view of this vibrant little town.
The only criticism I have was with the Capri tour recommended by the hotel. It was advertised as a small group tour on a boat with lunch provided and visit to the Blue Grotto (entry price excluded). The boat captain was OK, I thought he could have been a bit more informative and the tour itself was good. However, the Blue Grotto didn't eventuate as there was an hour long queue and lunch consisted of 1 panini with a small glass of limoncello at the end. Not really good value for the £80 per person.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with the balcony overlooking the Corso Italia. It was fun people watching from ab...

This small hotel of 11 rooms is found just behind Piazza Tasso (main square). Convienient location for the port and train and bus stations. All within a short walking distance. Not as noisy as those found on the main road itself, Corso Italia. Rooms recently refurbished so they are very clean and bright, well mine was. Top floor, room 1011. Ensuite with shower no bath, hairdryer that is powerful, toilet and bidet, quite large. Double bed. Coffee/tea making facilities, t.v, free wifi, and a room safe. Great air conditioning. Free breakfast ,in the breakfast area on the 4th floor, (top floor), continental breakfast. Well stocked and varied each morning. Staff extremely helpful with regard to transport times and places to go and see. They always had time for a chat. Very knowledgeable about the area so use them. Happy to look after your bags when you have checked out. Only small downsides, room 1011, on top floor, has a sloping ceiling with beams you could find yourself hitting your head on. No real views from windows as one is a velux in the roof and the other is a small thin window high up. In all, great hotel, great location, enabling you to see all the sights Sorrento and surrounding areas have to offer. It offers a lot!!

Room Tip: Rm 1011 as described above. No balcony but if you read other reviews the balcony rooms may be noisie...

One of the best hotels we stayed in during our recent trip to Italy,. Sylvana & her wonderful staff could not do enough to make our stay as hassle free as possible, they were outstanding. The accommodation was funky & roomy, clean & although it was in the centre of Sorrento totally noise free. We were made feel so welcome the day we were leaving we felt we were leaving behind old friends. We highly recommend Palazzo Tasso .

Room Tip: Attic room was cool as you could, if you wished, keep skylight open & watch the stars it was gor...

Just returned from spending a week staying here on holiday. The hotel is ideally placed right in the centre of Sorrento. The room was large and situated in a quiet part of the building - this was especially welcome when my husband and I returned in the evenings as we were assured a peaceful and relaxing night's sleep. The staff we met were all lovely and provided us with excellent information on what we could do during our stay. Cannot fault the room, the staff or the location of this hotel - it's a real gem. I would have no hesitation staying here in the future.

A great hotel in the centre of Sorrento. A nice big room with a balcony overlooking the main street. Good air conditioning and double glazing so no noise at night. Excellent staff who found out any details you asked of them. We also took the Capri trip they organised €75 for a big boat, tour of the coast and island, big sandwich and beers, a shame it was too rough for the blue grotto trip though.

We stayed at Palazzo Tasso for one night during a tour of the Amalfi Coast. The rooms were spotless, bright and airy and very tastefully decorated. The bathrooms were especially good. Service was exceptional and we were greeted by a very friendly lady who gave us some great recommendations for places to eat. The location is fantastic and puts you right in the heart of everything.

We were a little nervous about leaving our hire car and keys at Central Parking (with whom the hotel have an arrangement) but this was all fine too and the inclusive taxi service to and from the hotel was very useful. We though 15 Euros for 24h parking was very good value for money.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again!
