“Nice hotel, lovely pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

We stayed here for 5 nights and had a lovely time. Our room was spacious and comfortable, if fairly basically furnished. However, with sunshine and the beautiful pool we spent little time in the room. The outdoor pool is fantastic. It has stunning views across the bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius, and plenty of sunloungers. We were very impressed with how clean everything was at the hotel, including the pool and area around the pool. The pool was clearly very well maintained as there were no bugs or leaves floating on the water or any dirt on the bottom of the pool. The hotel also has some lovely gardens with lemon trees, and spacious lounge and terrace areas to sit with a drink.

As others have mentioned, conferences appear to be big business for this hotel. At the time of our stay, we were told that around 250 of the guests were on a conference. At times it felt a bit like the hotel had been taken over by the company holding the conference, but on the plus side, this meant that the pool was very quiet as they were in meetings all day - no need to get up at 6am to put your towel on sunlounger!

The hotel is about a 10/15 minute walk into town. The hotel is set on a bit of a hill but it was not a difficult walk for us. We found taxis to be very expensive in Sorrento (€20 from the station to the hotel, which we discovered was only about a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk) so we avoided them after the first time.

The only criticism I would make is of the service at breakfast. The selection of food in the breakfast buffet is very good, but we seemed to always have to wait for ages to be asked if we would like tea or coffee and then it took a long time to arrive. There did not seem to be any sort of system by which the waiters kept track of who had just sat down and needed to be looked after. Aside from that, we had a great experience at this hotel.

Room Tip: A sea view room would be lovely. Unfortunately we didn't have one!

This hotel was a great place to stay for our week in the Sorrento area, however, it is quite a walk down to the town and they do not have a shuttle. That said, the views are amazing as you look out over Napoli Bay and Mount Vesuvius. The hotel rooms are pretty sparse and the beds are very uncomfortable. I do have to say that the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a rental car and used it to explore the Amalfi coastline. Many other people warned us not to drive to Amalfi and suggested taking the tour bus. Driving was the best decision that we made as we stopped and explored anywhere we wanted to. The drive was no worse than the road to Hana, perhaps easier. The hotel has a wonderful executive lounge where we had morning and evening snacks.

What makes this hotel special is the quality of service and professionalism of the Italian staff. We felt very special from arrival. The charismatic and highly efficient receptionist, Pina ,recommended everyday a different restaurant and organised all restaurants to pick us up every night. She made our stay special. Even the "portiere" Ciro was kind and helpful. The room however was very basic but the view compensated. Be aware outside Pool very cold in May. Very relaxing feeling at the Hilton Sorrento.

Room Tip: sea view a must

We stayed here with our 2 kids for one week. Due to bad weather, we wanted to use the inside pool. Pity this was only possible on two days, the rest of the week the inside pool was occupied for conferences. We didn't feel like we were in a tourist-oriented hotel. The conferences are obviously the main focus for the hotel. At night, there was a lot of noise. This really kept our 5 year old awake. We also really missed a shuttle bus, it would be a nice service because a taxi drive down costs 16€.
On the other hand, the garden was beautiful and also the playground was nice and the view is indeed spectacular.
We won't be staying here again but if the issues mentioned above don't bother or apply to you, I think the Hilton could be a nice hotel to stay.

This was our second return to this beautiful hotel. The views are spectacular. Even if this is a large chain hotel, the staff made us feel that this is still a real Italian hotel.
I can't say enough about the fun we had in the large lounge. It was our anniversary and my husband's birthday. The bartender, Giuseppe, helped us celebrate by surprising us with candles on profiteroles..What fun. What a wonderful person he was. He also provided us with the name an excellent trattoria named Caffe Tasso.
The hotel is a bit of a walk but ok on a nice night. Unfortunately we had rain and called a cab the second night.
Great place !!!

The hotel is perfectly located to access Sorrento - I was expecting a massive hike having read some reviews, but it is a short and very easy walk, not a hike!
The pools were cold when we arrived due to the amount of rainfall, but warmed up as the weather improved.
The hotel is a conference centre as well and as such there were more conference attendees than hotel guests, and that was fine as it left the pool area lovely and empty!
The views are unbeatable from this hotel and our room on the 4th floor was excellent. This also gave us access to the lounge on the 7th floor which was value for money as the children snacked and we drank and ate up there many times at no cost.
The only downsides were noise related - One was the alarm system associated to the keys, you need to put your room key quickly in the electricity slot in the room or an alarm sounds for 5 minutes - not great when it kept happening to our neighbours late at night!!! Equally the noise from some delegates primarily in the corridors in the early hours as they returned to their rooms was not the best and was very loud, but overall you get a good nights sleep as the beds are so comfy!
A great hotel and an unbeatable location.

Room Tip: 4th floor with sea view and lounge access - unbeatable

Had a lovely time in this hotel with my husband and three year old child. Family room on back of hotel but spacious and clean. Out and about all day so view for us not essential. Reception desk staff very friendly and supportive. Lovely choice of food in morning for breakfast. Indoor pool was a godsend as weather still not warm enough. A lovely relaxing pool. We did use outside pool which is great with different sections. Also has lovely gardens and a small park which my son loved. Walk into town was 10 mins downhill on way and 15 mins uphill. Not an issue 3 year old found it fine. Felt safer than walk from Bristol another lovely hotel. A super stay at modern hotel.
