“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

We stayed here for a week at the end of September. Everything was excellent - beautifully decorated, spacious room, spotless throughout, great service, right in the centre of Sorrento. Bright breakfast room with a great range of high quality food. Staff were very helpful. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel, and would stay here again if we return to the area.

The hotel Jannuzzi perches on top of the central square in Sorrento. The hotel was originally a family home that sat on top of the family store; a famous wood inlay shop that has been in the heart of Sorrento for many years.

What begins to emerge is that the Palazzo Jannuzzi is something built by a family that has been at the heart of a town for decades, a family that cares about quality and craftsmanship and a family that believes in creating something special for its clients.

From the moment you walk in you are met by the excellent staff who go far beyond the norm to make sure you are well cared for.

We stayed in the central suite which was beautiful; modern and stylish with carefully chosen design accents. We had two balconies, both with amazing views of Sorrento and despite the outside bustle and traffic the room was well insulated and peaceful.

We took a cooking class on the last night and it was perhaps the highlight of our two week vacation. The Chef, Simona, is part of the Jannuzzi family and she was knowledgeable, funny and passionate about her food. Once the food was prepared we ate together with some of the family. It was just wonderful and the best meal we had in Italy.

I stayed for 5 nights at Palazzo Jannuzzi Relais. Although we paid a little more for this hotel, it was 100% worth it. The location was superb - right in Piazza Tazzo- easy walking distance from the train station, even after a very long day, with lots of luggage.... They were warm and welcoming at reception and our room was spectacular! We were in room 13, which overlooks Piazza Tasso, and has 2 balconies! Even though it is right on the square, the windows/doors are well insulated form the noise, and we found it to be relaxing (even though there was a big Harley Davidson concert/gathering right outside our windows). It was lovely to sit on the balconies and watch the world go by!! The room is extremely spacious and stylish. The simple yellow and white decorations and clean lines are punctuated beautifully by the whimsical ceramic bullfrogs (each room has a different animal- we had fun at breakfast asking others what they had in their rooms!) The beds were very comfortable, though the pillows were too bulky for my taste (luckily i always travel with a feather pillow of my own, since I"m picky about that. The down comforters on the bed bade it extra cosy, and even though it was quite warm, the blankets felt nice while we slept. The room had plenty of electrical outlets, which is often an issue in hotels. It seems they thought of everything! The bathroom was well-appointed, very clean and had an incredibly wonderful shower! There was a full length mirror on both sides of the door....very thoughtful when you have 2 women getting ready in the morning! Breakfast is delicious and hearty and the breakfast room is equally stylish with a cool open kitchen. Simone was so very sweet and kind every day (she makes the best cappuccinos with sweet little hearts on top!!) We could definitely feel the difference on the one day she was out. The service was still exceptional, but it wasn't... Simone!! :) My only minor complaint/suggestion about improving their breakfast is that it would be been PERFECT if there had been fresh squeezed orange juice (since it seems oranges are so plentiful). But the food was fantastic, and that would have been a luxury. My one regret is that I didn't have the time to do a cooking class with Simone - next time I will!! The front desk staff was very helpful, and offered to call to check restaurants for availability and made us reservations or suggestions for alternatives. It is a fantastic hotel for families, couples, or individual travelers!! They had a high chair in the breakfast room for a couple with a baby, and I saw a couple families with kids.... I was traveling with a friend, and we were ever so pleased with the hotel! I travel extensively both domestically and internationally, and I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough! 5 stars!

Room Tip: I loved room 13. See my review above- 2 balconies overlooking Piazza Tasso.

We stayed at the Palazzo Januzzi Relais on September 10 – 15, 2012. We were vacationing in Italy for three weeks and Palazzo Januzzi Relais was the best hotel we stayed at and I highly recommend the hotel. Palazzo Januzzi Relais is centrally located on Corso Italia / Piazza Torquato Tasso / Via Luigi de Maio. Cars are unable to drop hotel guest right at the front door but it is just a few feet away from the drop off point. The door to the hotel is motion sensor sliding glass and you walk or take the elevator up one floor to the front desk. The hotel lobby is small and very clean. The elevators are new and modern. The stairs to the ferry is across the street and are easy going down but I dreaded them coming back up.

We were given room 11 which is a corner room which had a large balcony and a fantastic view. Room 11 is decorated in yellow and white colors with tile floor. The room is very spacious with a queen size bed, two large dressers, closet, two end tables, two comfortable plush chairs and a flat screen TV. The large bathroom had the standard European fixtures but the bonus was the step in shower. The shower does not have a curtain or door so be careful when stepping out even with a towel on the floor it can get quiet slippery. The window in the bathroom is privacy glass and allows natural light to shine in. At night the light from the alley comes into the bathroom.

The balcony on room 11 is beautiful and inviting. There are planters of rosemary and flowers along the railing and in the corner is a flowering Mandeville vine which provides additional privacy in addition to the privacy partition. The balcony overlooks a small square to the left which the horse carriages stage and sometimes you can hear the horses impatiently stamping their hooves. I did not smell the horses from our room but it did rain off and on so it could have washed the scent away. However when you pass by the square and the horses have left you can tell they were there although faint the smell may be. The square also has a couple of large trees which buffers some of the noise from the street and provides some privacy. The front view of the balcony overlooks the street with several restaurants and on a crystal clear day Mt Vesuvius peaking from behind the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria on the cliff. The side window in room 11 looks down Via Santa Maria Della Pineta and the room in the building next door.

The breakfast buffet was in a cozy room with a balcony on the same floor as the lobby. The space is limited so hotel guest share a table with other guest if it is during peak times. I think we ate breakfast late one day at 8:30 am and we had to share a table but sometimes we were the only ones there in the morning. The breakfast had fresh fruit, breads, yogurt, cheeses, eggs, bacon, meats, juice, milk, teas, coffee to order and a variety of condiments. This was the best breakfast we had in Italy.

Room Tip: Although I highly recommend this hotel and room 11 I feel that I must advise about the noise. Unfor...

We've just returned from a 3 night break in Sorrento, where we stayed at the Palazzo Jannuzzi Relais. We chose it because of the favourable reviews on Trip Advisor and we weren't disappointed. The hotel is in a prime position and our room, which was a double superior, faced onto the main square. The room was very modern and spacious and cleaned daily. We stayed on a B&B basis and the choice for breakfast was very good. I'm not usually one to stay in the same hotel twice but I would definitely go back to this hotel if I ever visit Sorrento again.

Room Tip: It's worth paying a bit more to get a room which faces onto the main square. We came back early...

We were thrilled with out experience at the Palazzo Jannuzzi Relais, with the only difficulty being finding it. We parked in the parking garage just up the street for $20 Euro per day. The hotel is spotless, beautifully decorated, and very modern. The room was large and comfortable with excellent mattress and bedding and fun colors. In every way it is better than any hotel in which we've previously stayed on several trips to Europe. The people were extremely courteous and helpful, and the breakfast was incredible!
The location is right at the heart of Sorrento near the shopping and restaurants, and an easy walk to the harbor.
We highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The only change I would make next time is to stay in a room farther from the reception desk, but we...

Chose this B&B from T/A reviews and could not be more satisfied. Newly created ( open only 18 months ) the rooms shine with newness and are modernly appointed. Our's overlooked Tasso plaza, the main intersection in town and even with the traffic and several open air restaurants and shopping areas, the noise was never a problem. We have been traveling for almost 30 days now thru France and Italy and the beds here were the most comfortable anywhere. Add the memory foam pillows and soft linens and it was as good as sleeping in one's own bed.

The location is just a short walk from the train station and centrally situated near the main shopping district and restaurants and piazzas. It is above the family owned business that has been in operation since 1863. A well known cabinet, furniture, linen and ceramic store that began life as a manufacturing location in the 1800's.

The breakfast spread is extensive and very good. We also took a cooking class with one of the owners, Simona, who couldn't have been any more engaging, humorous or well informed. We had a great time cooking sipping wine and laughing. Finished off by eating our creations under a full moon on the rooftop terrace. A magical night.

I would highly recommend Palazza Jannuzzi to anyone looking for a great
B&B in Sorrento.
