Towards the end of September I visited Meating, it had been reccomended by the Thompson Tour Rep (Sam).
The service was excellent and we were seated upstairs as soon as we got there. Once sat we were provided with menus, we made our choice and then we were provided with walnuts with hard italian cheese and some sparkling wine (this was complimentary), just before the main course arrived a couple of appetisers arrived, these were also complimentary. They were also delicious.
When the main arrived (I had a filet steak with porccini mushrooms) I was a happy man as the steak was of a good size, it had also been cooked perfectly for me. Things like french fries and salad are extras and come in seperate dishes. The good thing about this is there is enough of both french fries and of the salad that if you were of a mind you could split the extras between two diners.
The meal was thoroughly enjoyable as was watching one of the guys prepare steak tartare at the table of another pair of diners as we relaxed and consumed some Lacryma Christi Rosso.
To be honest I was also expecting the bill to be considerably more than it was, however for what we paid I would honestly say that it was a bargain and that when I am in Sorrento again I will be visiting.
