“Fantastic location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

stayed here from the 26/09/20 - 1/10/2012, even though there are a lot of stairs to climb the room was of a good standard and clean linen on a daily basis, the owner is very friendly and will direct you to a good secure car park for the duration of your stay, if you tell them at the car park that you are staying at the belvedere you pay a cheaper rate.

We booked the Belvedere based on reports from other travellers as well as its location.

If location is what you are after then it is a good choice, right in the centre of town close to the station and port but you are so far above the traffic that you are not disturbed by the noise.

We read the reviews here about breakfast but our first impression was good. However, the croissants laid out on oir first day were still there four days later. Although we had fruit juices for the first few days once these were gone they were not replaced. The fridge in the communal kitchen had items left from previous visitors which we were told we could use but when you looked at some of these they were well out of date.

However, the room we had was large and clean, the wi-fi good and the roof-top terrace was excellent. It seems such a shame that with a little more care and at very little extra cost, things could be so much better.

If you are not too bothered about climbing the stairs and you don't particularly like breakfast then the Belvedere is a great choice.

My wife and I chose this B and B solely based on the great trip advisor reviews and we were really disappointed. Yes the location is fantastic, right in the centre of Sorrento, however, the almost complete lack of signs, even when inside the stairwell of the buidling made it very awkward to find initially. As described by other people, our bedroom was recently renovated, but the shower was quite poor. Our DIY breakfast was rubbish. All the food was just left out from the previous day, nothing fresh and there was barely enough milk to make a coffee. I do not expect to have to wash my own crockery and cutlery when paying 70 Euros per night

This bed and breakfast was ideally located and a wonderful oasis. We loved the deck and outdoor patio and were very impressed by the helpfulness and warmth of the owners. The b and b was beautifully and tastefully renovated and was kept imaculately clean. As well, breakfast food was available all day.

Checked out of the Belevdere today and we couldnt complain too much at all; the location was absolutely perfect and if you dont mind climbing the 80 odd stairs to get to your room (which we didnt considering how much we ate) than this is a great budget choice- rooms are very clean, fresh and modern. (we were actually shocked)

Would recommend catching the ferry to visit Positano (not the bus) as its a much more of a pleasant ride!

P.S. There is a baggage winch to get your luggage up to the BB so you dont have to lug your bags up all those steps

Pros:

Ideal Location
Air Conditioning
Price
WiFi

Cons:

None

We stayed here for two nights in June 2012. The B&B is ideally located near the two main squares in Sorrento and is a short walk from the Circumvesuviana station. There are many restaurants nearby and the bus to/from the port is also a short walk away.

The rooms are well equipped with a mini fridge, safe, and WiFi. The rooms also have an opening skylight which provides a lot of natural light. Upon arrival, we were given a bottle of water and two glasses which was a nice relief from the heat. Although we didn't use the common outdoor terrace, it did provide a nice view of vesuvius, and would be a great place to enjoy a drink at the end of a day.

The breakfast/kitchen area is self serve and comes with pre-packaged croissants, biscuits, etc. There is also a coffee maker and kitchen utensils if you'd like to prepare your own meals.

Overall, I would recommend this B&B if you are looking for a clean, budget friendly B&B, in a location that is walking distance to some good restaurants/nightlife.

My wife and I have just spent a week at the Belvedere and found it to be in a perfect location for our stay in Sorrento. The rooms are spacious with air conditioning it contained a small fridge, safe and TV. The shower area was large and in a reasonable condition. It was also cleaned on a daily basis and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen area was self service and we found this not to be a problem and the views of Vesuvius and the surrounding area from the terrace was superb.
Near to both the train and bus station and 15 minutes from the main harbour if catching the ferry or hydrofoil. Alfonso was a perfect host and was more than helpful in giving advice on the local area and assisting you with your bags etc. One possible downside could be the number of steps to get to your room (84). Finally in this day and age it was very good value for money and if there were any problems they were only minor and unless you are the type of person who wants perfection I can recommend the Belvedere. Thank you Alfonso for being so kind.

Room Tip: Be aware of the 84 steps to get to the rooms!!
