“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

The staff are very nice and considerate, and very helpful when planning trips around Sorrento. The hotel is very close to the bus and train station, and the rooms are comfortable. The hotel is not very central wihin Sorrento, but provides for a good walk to the Piazza Tasso, and is near some nice, inexpensive restaurants.

The guest house is just a 10 min walk from the famous Piazza Tasso. We were greeted by Simone, very friendly and helpful. The room wasn't that big but it was clean, modern and the bed was confortable. The bathroom was clean too. We were asked at what time we wished to be served breakfast in the room. Being a guest house, the place is located in a building with other apartments, so there was some noise from the people upstairs, but when we got back from dinner the place was totally quiet. There's no parking but they have a partnership with a private parking close by (500 meters) which costs € 15 for 24 hours. Considering how much we paid for the night (€ 40) Sorrento Relais was a great value for our money!

We were on honeymoon and staying somewhere very rural. One of our wedding presents was a fabulous meal at Il Buco in Sorrento, We wouldn't have been able to get a taxi to take us to where we were staying so needed to find somewhere in Sorrento for just one night. This hotel was perhaps the equivalent of a Premier Inn in the UK but with better complementary toileteries, The rooms were clean and although ours was a double it was actually a king size bed. We paid Euros 55 for the night and this included breakfast at a local cafe. Admittedly this doesn't look great from the outside but don't let that deter you. I don't believe you could get anything better for this price in Sorrento. A word of caution - the reception is only manned until early evening so late check-in is not an option. Keys for the front door, reception door and your room are provided but you probably need to to book in before 6pm.

described as a boutique hotel with all mod cons, it is really a converted apartment in a modern (and neglected looking) apartment block. We arrived 8.30 pm ], couldn't find the "hotel" at all, eventually knocked on all doors in the street until neighbours pointed to a closed and locked door inside the apartment block. We knocked and rang, no reply, phoned the contact numbers, no reply. Eventually with help form the hotel nearby we located the proprietor who came and let us in, then left us with keys to the hotel which turned out not to work. Four times this week we stood outside the door locked out.

Most of the features promised on the website were not there at all: no telephone, no WiFi at all, no minibar (just a small empty fridge), no toiletries, no slippers or bathrobes. There is no breakfast room at all, just a meagre breakfast brought to the bedroom on a tray. No seats in the rooms, so you can only sit on the bed. And it is not at a crossroads, it is in a back street 10 mins walk from the main intersection.

After much complaining they put some of the details right, provided slippers and some juices in the frige - though still no WiFi, and still we were locked out 3 more times. And we did not enjoy wasting the first 24 hours in arguments with the proprietor: we asked to canel the booking and have a refund (she refused) and then many arguments before she agreed to make some compromises to make the stay bearable. Very disappointing, do not go to this hotel.

I would not recommend this hotel at ALL. I don't even know if it's a hotel! Our experience was ridiculously horrible.

We found this hotel via lastminute.com. When we got to Sorrento an hour after check-in time, we walked around Via Rota trying to find this place. We went into a hotel down the street to ask if they knew where it was, and they weren't aware that the hotel existed! They had no clue what hotel we were talking about.

It ended up being in a building that looked almost abandoned. My husband and I rang their bell waiting for them to open the door so we could check-in and shower. It started raining and we stood there with our luggage for almost 2 hours ringing their bell over and over again. No answer. We even tried calling them, even though we were roaming, to try and get in. Nothing. We just gave up.

Went to a neighboring hotel to try and get a room but they were all full. Luckily he was nice enough to help us out and found us a hotel that picked us up from Via Rota.

We're currently trying to get our refund from lastminute.com for this.
