“Fabulous food and wine”

Lovely restaurant for lunch, dinner or for just enjoying a carafe of wine. The food and wine is excellent and the staff are really friendly, which makes for a wonderful experience.

“Such a Friendly Welcome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We arrived at this little bay very late at night and as we stepped out of the mini bus to make our way, past The Azzura, to our hotel, the owner shook our hands and said, "Welcome to the jungle"
The following evening, after a stroll around Sorrento, we trotted down the hundred or so steps back to the welcome sights and sounds of Marina Grande. Although quite late, Azzura was still open and we were welcomed to sit under cover, watching and listening to the lazy night sea while boss man plied us with litre caraffs of house white at ten euros a time (half the price of that at the top!) Azzura became the nightly haunt where, as the week progressed, we were graced with all sorts of nibbles and bruchettas - all on the house.
A rainy Wednesday forced us to venture no further from the hotel than to Azzurra for a superb, lengthy, laid back sea food lunch (with plenty more house white, of course) I can't say what the others had but mine was an enormous dish of mussels in what has to be the best tomato sauce I have ever tasted.
Marina Grande is the smallest of the Sorrento bays and the most traditional. This is what an italian fishing village - with a smattering of tourists - is like. The warmth and friendliness of all Azzura's staff - and their food and prices - placed this holiday firmly in the "Must go again" box!

“Awful and full of tourists”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Too many tourists off the tour bus or cruise ship. Bad choice. Worst veal I've ever had. Very nice servers but not enough of them. We waited a long time. Place was on a corner on a busy walkway which should have told us something. No italians here which should have been a warning, too!

“Beautiful, fresh food surpassed only by epic view of Mt. Vesuvius”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

We had asked our Napoliano taxi driver to take us to where he likes to eat lunch (when in Sorrento) and he brought us to this gem of a restaurant right on the water. You pick your fresh catch from an outside cooler and sit down to enjoy a fine, filling meal, Italian wine, and a view across the bay of Mt. Vesuvius.

Owner was extremely friendly. We can never stop talking about this restaurant as it was a highlight of our trip, and a co-worker is promising to visit it when he goes next week to Sorrento. Don't miss out!

“Take away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

Didn't eat at this restaurant but on 3 occasions had take aways to eat on the beach. the owner couldn't have been more helpful sugesting fillings for our VERY large sandwiches ( imagine a small cob loaf stuffed with cheese , tomatoes and ham ).
My partner decided to have a tuna salad on 1 occasion which she assured me was great. ( the restaurant even lent a fork for her to eat it on her sun lounger)

My tip: Sandwich from here, a large beer from one of the two shops on the beach side and lay back and enjoy the sun and atmosphere.
