After a faultless multi course lunch in this unassuming restaurant around the corner from the Duomo I told the charming owner Mr Rispolo that I had not eaten as well in Salerno since a memorable dinner (with mind bowing pasta with fresh anchovies) years ago in a now closed restaurant called 'Il Cenacolo'. He laughed and informed me it was also his place!
The ingredients were all absolutely top notch, courgette flower fritters, tuna mousse with fior di latte mozzarella and raw tomato sauce, amazingly rich pasta with confit onion and more courgette flowers and firm semolina ravioli filled with aubergine mousse stood out. Try this place for an authentic taste of Salerno and the Cilento region.
