“The perfect venue and very friendly staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

The hotel is lovely situated on the steep hill above Amalfi harbour. Don't be put off by the stairs. You can always chose the bus, and the small lift will take care of your luggage. The scenery and the fantastic staff will garantuee you a memorable stay!
Don't miss out on the great brekfast before walking down to Amalfi.
We will come back! /Johan & Karolina

My husband and I just had a wonderful 6 days in a fabulous location on the Amalfi coast. It was recommend to us by our son and daughter inlaw and it didn't let us down.
The staff are friendly and nothing is to much trouble. The rooms are clean and it was a real friendly family atmosphere.
We feel we made friends with Sonia, Salvatore and Antoinetta who always had a smile on their face and looked after us like family.
The view cannot be matched anywhere.
We would highly recommended Le Palm to anyone who is after a tranquile and restful setting for their holiday.

If you like personal, friendly, thoughtful and helpful in addition to clean rooms and a fabulous location you will like this "holiday house". If you want night life and to be in a "happening" place then this is not for you. It is clearly a family run business and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. We stayed here for a week and loved every minute of it and feel like we have made some new friends on the Amalfi Coast in Antoinetta, Sonia & Salvatore.
The place is not in Amalfi per se but it is not far away as you can walk there in less than 20 minutes (almost all downhill) and it is quieter than any of the hotels in Amalfi. The views given that it is above Amalfi (and slightly to the west) are priceless both day and night and if you want a place to chill out in and to just soak up the laid back atmosphere of the Amalfi coast then this one is very special.
Yes there are lots of stairs but there is the option of the "chair lifts" which are slow but they do save your legs on the way up (and down). The way down (all 308 steps) are not a challenge for anyone who is moderately fit and give you time to soak up the view.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: There is a suite adjacent to the pool and sunbathing area. Well worth enquiring about.

This is a fantastic experience for a short stay of 3 to 5 nights. The scenery cannot be matched elsewhere and I would thoroughly recommend it. Finding it is a bit of a challenge so heed the advice of other reviewers. Head for the Hotel Excelsior and park your car there (it is free). The stairs down to the hotel are many and my legs were like jelly after the first day. The chair lift is essential to bring your luggage down.
I would highly recommend the suite. This gives more space and you have direct access to the pool and patio area with stunning views.
The hotel is small, unique and run by a lovely family. As a consequence the service is more intimate and the experience special.
I would suggest a few sessions in the gym on the treadmill before your stay to acclimatise to the steps but well worth it. We would love to go again. The hotel can also be booked out entirely for private use - a great way to have a family/friends reunion with everything to yourself.

Room Tip: Book the suite-well worth the small increase.

My partner and I had just stayed on an organic farm above Sorrento, tucked away from the crowds on the coast, so we were not sure what to expect from Amalfi. We were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves staying at a family holiday home, Le Palme, with lemon groves and fruit trees, perched on the mountainside above Amalfi (Pogerola). The walk down the stairs almost makes you feel like you are still in the countryside. The views are stunning, and the refurbished building has not lost it's homely feel as the hotel is run by several generations of one family, from the grandmother to the grandchildren, who offer you a very warm welcome. The rooms are pleasant and spacious, although the one without a second window (i.e. glass doors onto the sea view), smelled a little damp, so go for one of the rooms with extra windows. They are affordably priced, as you are really paying for the view here, as well as the calm surroundings and the fresh fruit served throughout the day.

I had organised a surprise cooking lesson at Le Palme restaurant with the owner's brother, who is the Chef at the Hotel's second installation by the beach in Atrani (again, far away from the tourists, and offering both traditional and creative home made cooking). The family handled it really well, and my partner enjoyed both the 2/3-hour lesson, and the company of these friendly welcoming brothers. Salvatore loves to share all sorts of knowledge on local food and products with you, and he is a genuinely welcoming host. Definitely worth a visit! If you drive, park next to the Hotel Excelsior - we got a bit lost but Antonietta came to greet us at the top of the stairs and show us the way from the main road to Pogerola. We left the car there, walked into town, down the stairs, and took the bus back up from Amalfi. Perfect!

I booked this hotel for three nights for a short break, and wish I could've stayed longer! It is family run, and Antoinetta really made me feel at home. She was extremely accomodating, and the meals were delicious. Breaky on the balcony was a very good reason to get out of bed! The view was amazing; after going into town in the mornings I was more than happy to sit up at the pool in the afternoon and just take it in. The only thing I would've done differently would be to do a bit better research on how to get there. I could've got the bus to the top of the stairs for $2, but because I didn't know that, instead went with a cab... for $30. Very happy with my stay, and would love to go back.Thank you!

This hotel was indeed a unique experience from Antoinetta, the most gracious and helpful host, to stair lift to get you and your luggage up and down, to the pool and the views. Antoinetta was absolutely great and made sure that I had no trouble getting to the hotel and that all the details were handled well. She emailed me regularly so that there wouldn;t be any glitches. Her English is really good and she genuinely cares about making the experience splendid. The only downside to this hotel is that it requires taking a bus, which sometime runs once an hour. But the location also offers breathtaking views and a chance to get away from the hoardes of tourists coming in for the day. Great place to relax and recharge!!
