We spent three enjoyable nights at the Floridiana Hotel in the end of July 2013. Clean, comfortable, and helpful staff.
We drove up from Sicily and found the parking garage for the hotel and walked a few blocks back into town. Our bags arrived shortly after and were taken to our room.
The best decision we made was to leave the car in the garage. We took a boat all the way up the coast to Sorrento where we roamed for a while, then took the local bus back to Amalfi. The bus took longer than the boat ride and if you get car sick, bring along a large garbage bag! Narrow, windy, crazy road!
But the reason for this review is the advantage of staying at more intimate places. On our way to Naples, our departure city, we found a ceramic shop near Salerno some 25 km (44 minutes) from the hotel where we ordered tiles that were to be made of our home after we provided them with pictures. It was to be 6, 8 inch tiles making one picture of our home that we would frame and put on our back deck wall. Cash up front, which was significant.
We emailed the pictures to the ceramic shop two weeks later and asked for acknowledgement that the pictures were received. We didn't get any response from many emails and became concerned.
I emailed the Floridiana and explained our situation and to ask if they knew of the place. The next day I got an email from Agnese saying she would give them a call. Three days later she reported that her husband stopped by the shop and they told him they were closed for August and would be working on the tiles.
Try getting that kind of service from a 'big box' hotel.
I am happily shocked to report that the tiles arrived a few days ago and are as ordered.
Thanks Agnese for those extra kilometers of service!!
