“Charming boutique hotel with a great seaview and close to Amalfi coast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2010

We stayed there for 2 nights in mid Nov 2010 and the family absolutely loved our stay! We are a family with 2 teens and a younger child and had 2 rooms with excellent seaview. The breakfast was good, especially when we can enjoy it with a great view at the same time, sitting on the balcony facing the sea.
Rooms are clean and big by European standard,a charming boutique hotel indeed.
The hotel has a mini-bus that will pick you from the train station and also send you down to the town when you need to. We had dinner there on both nights and my wife enjoyed the seafood rissoto so much that she had it for 2 nights in a row.! Prices were reasonable, especially when service charges were much lesser than most restaurants. My teens absolutely love the free wifi in their rooms. Our only regret, not staying for at least another night.

Loved this hotel. We stayed on the top floor with a large deck overlooking the sea. It was breathtaking. The staff were helpful with parking the car (which one should avoid using during your stay). The town is a short walk away via stairs a short distance from the hotel. Stairs are common in Italy so that was not a problem to me. The breakfast was good and comparable to other hotels and the view from the windows of the breakfast area was spectacular.

The hotel is located about 1 km from Amalfi, but you can easily walk to the town, it's quiet and the view from the balcony is spectacular. The staff are all very friendly, and will help you park your car, if you bring one ;0)

Hi Folks,
My wife, 9 year old daughter and I stayed 1 week at the Il Nido in Amalfi. The hotel was very nice (4 stars), the rooms spacious and immaculately cared for, and the staff very warm and hospitable. The lobby area was very welcoming and the hotel manager and his staff helped us with everything we could possibly need. The view from all rooms was incredible and although some reviews complained about the walk into town, those reviews are not valid. Amalfi is in the hills along the coast and walking and climbing stairs is a big part of Amalfi. The only way around the walking up and down is to stay in town and then there is no view. I highly recommend this hotel property, it's location, and it's friendly family staff. Also, although the concierge didn't guarantee the wireless internet working in my room, I got a strong signal and was able to use it limitlessly (for free). One thing to note: I was a little confused as to the hotel's exact location when taking the bus from Sorrento. The hotel is in Amalfi, not Positano, and it is just across the road from the Santa Caterina hotel just before going down the hill into Amalfi town. The bus stops a few steps past the Il Nido (the bus driver was not very helpful, perhaps english not so good). Also, an alternative way, and for me next time the only way, to get to Amalfi and the IL Nido is to take the train to Salerno and take the ferry to Amalfi; then take a taxi, with my bags, up the hill slightly to the hotel. Enjoy the hotel and enjoy the town, we certainly did. (FYI, I travel for a living so when I say it is a nice place, it truly is).

"Our hotel is your home", said Francesca to my wife on our first morning after asking for a cappuccino in place of the regular (and good) coffee at breakfast.
Family owned hotel with Francesca, the daughter, taking care of the breakfast served in a nice dining room overlooking the sea and Amalfi. The breakfast was the best we got in a 3 star hotel in Italy, the room was good with balcony (geraniums) with side view on Amalfi and the blue open sea from high above. Very friendly and helpful staff. Real value for money.
Some tips:
- We stayed 3 nights, not really enough for Costiera Amalfitana.
- At arrival (luggage), take the lift at the left side of the hotel.
- There is a bus stop in front of the hotel, but we always walked down to the town, enjoying the beautiful views. The buses might be sometimes full and not stop (the Italians didn't realize yet they've got a lot of tourists…).
- When walking down to Amalfi, take the path around the cliff in front of the tunnel. After the tunnel, take the stairs down before hotel la Bussola and you get on the promenade. If you stay on the road, you get at the gate of Amalfi.
- There is a fair restaurant near the hotel (la Favoritta) viewing the sea, with a charming old waiter.
- The road between Positano, Amalfi and Ravello is spectacular, with stunning views. Just take the regular bus from Amalfi and stop in different places and try to walk along the narrow road to view special panoramas. If you ride in a car, you can hardly stop or see anything and meet frequently the threatening buses.
- When in Ravello, get to Villa Cimberone for the spectacular view at the edge of the garden.
- Visit hotel S. Caterina (leading hotels of the world) 100 m up the road. Walk 100 m more and view their location.
- If you go back to Napoli (or Positano), take the hydrofoil from Amalfi (best tip of Francesca). It's relatively cheap, rapid and beautiful.

This is a great hotel. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The rooms are big with balcony view of sea. Great breakfast.
We had a very good time. Amalfi is a short walk away, about 10 minutes. Excellent. We might well go back.
