“Made good on mistakes.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

We booked the night before for one night. We read great reviews and for the price, we wanted to try. We got there early and found out there was a mix-up. We booked 2 rooms but they only had one available. The staff was extremely accommodating and offered to find another close by at the same price. We were 2 couples and just decided to sleep all 4 of us in the same room. To show their gratitude, they allowed us to park in the private garage free of charge and let us help ourselves to everything in the minibar complimentary. When we left the hotel, they ran my credit card for 2 rooms. After a few emails, we worked it out and they refunded one of the rooms. Great view and very charming rooms.

This cute little hotel is exactly as described. Beautiful view. Right on cliff looking down on small secluded beach and out over the water. I had the Junior Suite and was very happy. The hotel staff was awesome and willing to do whatever necessary to make your stay the best that it can be. The private beach down below is a sure benefit. Although it is a long way down by steps, it is the best beach around and there is a lift you can use if the walk is too much. The walk into town isn't bad if you are not in a hurry (15 min walk). The walk back up gets old. There is a bus that comes by the hotel about every hour but I was always to impatient to wait. You can get around by bus or walking but, if you have the money, a scooter rental is the way to go. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars from me is because it is a little small but, I think that is common in the area. I would recommend it to anybody looking for a small hotel and hope to return some day.

What a view from this hotel that is about a mile out of town. The bus stops right in front of it so there is no need for a car. The 24 hour bus pass is 7.20 Euros and well worth it. We had Room #5 the Suite and it was great to have a balcony with a view. The only thing that prevented me from giving this a 5 star was our room had tiny ants. We killed about 100 of them over the two days. There was a nest in the cliff outside our room and they ventured in through the open window (staff opens everyday) and a crack by the door. When we noticed them the first evening the staff was already gone for the night. I let them know the next day after barely sleeping and they put out some poison that seemed to take care of it. The manager of the hotel spoke good English but the lady serving breakfast spoke none. The breakfast was good and overall I would stay again but would bring my raid with me.

Room Tip: #5 is the room with the best view downstairs. There is one other room downstairs and the others are...

La Ninfa was an amazing place to stay with really friendly staff, amazing views and a great hotel in general.
All the staff were friendly and helpful, although their english wasn't the best they managed to get by and still make our stay the best that it could be.
Their is a private beach that you can get to by lift or a public beach (both next to each other) that you can walk down to on about 450 steps (its not that bad!).
The only downside that I can mention has nothing to do with the hotel, just that the drive to get their is quite scary on a skinny, winding road so don't drive their yourself like we did. Get a bus or some other transport up their!

Room Tip: Definitely get a sea view room, because that is really what you are their for is the view and the oc...

An incredible view, reasonably priced. The La Ninfa was the perfect hotel for us during our stay in Amalfi. And Carmen, with her wonderful English, was the ideal hostess. We were traveling with another couple and we booked the two suites, which were amazing. The other rooms are much smaller and not all have the great view the suites offered. We loved our walk into town down the hill each evening and then we would catch a bus at the end of the night that let us out right in front of our hotel. We loved it.

Room Tip: Try to book one of the two suites. We actually liked the junior better than the full suite. The bed...

I booked the Junior Suite at this hotel (cos most of the very good reviews were of the Junior Suite) and I wasn't disappointed. The view from the bathroom (facing jacuzzi) and the balcony was fantastic. It's all blue sea, blue sky for as far as you can see. very nice to sleep at night cos of the sound of the waves!

Only drawback is the location. It's a good 20 mins walk from hotel to Amalfi town. On our check out day, we trolleyed the bags downhill to Amalfi town. Thankfully, cos it was early morning, there was hardly any traffic.

Mar - Nov is tourist peak season. So expect the roads leading to/out from Amalfi town to be PACKED. not exactly very nice for walks cos of the vehicles. There is a footpath, but only for a small segment of the long stretch.....

However, hotel's distance from the town was also a blessing. Amalfi town during tourist high season is noisy, and very dusty....not at all like the peaceful quiet around La Ninfa.

We didn't manage to get breakfast cos we checked out at 7am (breakfast serves from 8am). The recept promised to prepare some cakes for us, but we didn't see any trace of it during our checkout :(

Another thing we tried is the dinner (25euro/ pax) which the hotel had -- a meal package tied up with a nearby restaurant. The owner of the restaurant picked (and send us back), which was good...since we don't want to walk up/downhill to restaurant. The menu comprised a first, second course, sides and coffee plus water. Very worth it. Try the seafood gnocchi.
