“Tranquil hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

We took the bus to scala before starting the walk. The steepest section is at the scala end. After that it is quite easy to pogerola and the wonderful Cocktail Bar (see my review). We then hiked down to Amalfi. A different hike to some of the others as you see greenery and small waterfalls, as well as some sea views.

“Waterfalls, lemon trees, and great views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

This hike was one of my highlights in Amalfi. Beautiful, lush scenery. Picturesque views looking back at Amalfi. The hike itself is relatively easy. Bring your swim trunks/bathing suits to jump in the many pools along the way created by the waterfalls.

“Magnificent views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014

Not too difficult. Very green. Nice waterfalls and lemon orchards. Nice to see an ancient roman aquaduct of Amalfi. We did not go all the way but did about 2 miles up and 2 miles down back to Amalfi town. Nice to get away from the summer crowds.

“Beautiful walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014

If you want some time for peace and tranquillity, then doing Valle delle Ferriere is definitely a must.
From Paper Mill turn right following the red arrow that says Valle delle Ferriere. The route goes through picturesque lemon groves and settlement nesting at the edge of the mountain. In a way it is a nice introduction to real Amalfi life. The walk is not difficult but be aware that you will have to go up quite a few stares while going to the wood. National Trust maintains the paths and there are small white and red flags on the rocks that indicate directions. There are also signs indicating directions to Amalfi.
The walk offers stunning views and it gives a different perspective of the area through its lush greenery, noisy, crystal clear and icy rivers.
While the paths in the forests are maintained, you still need to wear comfortable walking shoes/ sandals with good grip. Have waterproof with you as well, as weather is changeable and it can rain or get windy very suddenly.
With its rich and diverse flora, the area served inspiration for many artists and writers. The tranquillity and beauty of the place lifts one up above mundane troubles. The walk to the waterfalls goes through forest and you can see ruins of old mills and habitats along the way. It is perfect place to come for picnic and spend the whole day there.

Things to remember

There are no toilet facilities
There are no restaurants or cafes along the route, bring your own water and food
The gates leading to the main waterfall can be locked and you may not have full access to the main waterfall
Throughout summer months there are lots of lizards on the stones, also be aware of snakes which according to the locals come out

“Great Hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

We did this long and beautiful hike twice on the same day. There are waterfalls and great views. The river has places where you can go in for a dip if you stand the cold water. Many quaint homes along the way with lemon orchards.
