“Valle delle Ferriere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

This valley, located behind the town of Amalfi, was once a center of production and trade of iron ore and paper manufacturing. Today, these industries are no longer in use, and nature is doing a good job on reclaiming its land. After a couple of hours of walking through a wooded area, you reach the top of the valley in an amazing and unexpected rain forest rich of fascinating flora. The forests are thick and dark and the waterfalls so refreshing!. I think this is the other side of the Amalfi Coast that few visitors have the pleasure of discovering!

“Great walk - lot of history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

Well worth doing. A bit of a pull out of town at first but you soon lose the crowds. The valley itself is fascinating with loads of old buildings. Take plenty of water and some food, there is nothing on the trail. Take your towel and swimming stuff - the river near the turn around point is ace!

“One of my favorite hike on the Amalfitan Coast.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

This is a very beautiful hike that goes into the hills back of Amalfi, following the river. The hike is very easy to do, and after half an hour you will forget that you are in Amalfi and will enjoy a totally different and interesting landscape, with waterfalls, view of high hills, and much more. There is a lot to say about this hike, please try to read some specialized guide about it before making the trip, since there are many interesting things to see, also from the geological and botanic side. Highly recommended.

“Nice walk but longer then the book said!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

From Pontone it starts with an uphill walk om 15 min. The walk gets interesting and quite beautiful when you enter the forrest! It gets hot, so a bath in the river is refreshing on the way. We used about 3 hours from Pontone to Amalfi.

“Utter magic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

An amazing walk through the mountains of the Amalfi coast. You get the impression time has stopped. If you can get in touch with the Forest Guards who'll let you into the reserve where you can see unusual examples of flora and an amazing waterfall.
