“Utter magic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

An amazing walk through the mountains of the Amalfi coast. You get the impression time has stopped. If you can get in touch with the Forest Guards who'll let you into the reserve where you can see unusual examples of flora and an amazing waterfall.

“Magic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

Beautiful wooded valley with ruins of paper mills and ancient iron foundries. The paths are well-marked and easy to walk. There's also a lovely waterfall.

“Extraordinary canyon and trail on the Amalfi Coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

Hike this trail up from Amalfi if you want to experience a lush jungle-like canyon of rushing creeks, deep shade, and the ruins of a series of mills built in the 19th century which are now crumbling and covered in moss and vines. The karst landscape does not provide much surface water in this region so this wet canyon is a real contract. Gorgeous.

“The highlight of Amalfi town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

This walk is just stunning and seems to change every few 100m from town then through lemon groves and into the forest with amazing ruins if the paper mills - not little cottages but 2-3 storey houses. It is not especially difficult but the walk down deep steps on the way back certainly could be felt the next day!

“An excellent walk with a surprise in store”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

Walked up from the cetre of Amalfi following the signs, turning right near the Paper Mill. Climbs progressively uphill on a paved and then natural path. Several old derelict paper mills are encountered alongside the river which tumbles over small waterfalls and shoots down some small rapids. In its upper stretches the path criss crosses the river a few times using small trunks tied together as bridges.
A glorious surprise awaits those who dare to enter the nature reserve, usually locked and out of bounds, but accessible by bypassing the fence. Some 100m later is a magnificent waterfall at least 150m high with gently cascading water. A little further on the river enters a gorge with water gently cascading down from the surrounding vegetation high above - truly awe inspiring - almost jungle like!
Glorious views of lemon groves and of Amalfi await you on your return. Try to do the walk in later afternoon for the best light for photos when returning.
