“Wonderful Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

My husband and I just returned from a 12 day trip to Italy, and spent 2 nights at the Residence Hotel. Upon checking in, we were immediately impressed with the helpfulness and efficiency of the staff. They were warm and welcoming, giving us directions to a nearby parking garage, helping us bring our bags to our room, and offering us a voucher for a free drink at the the hotel bar. In the heart of Amalfi, with views overlooking the beach and the beautiful sea, we loved the hotel's location. We were able to easily walk everywhere in town. In our opinion, Amalfi was slightly quieter than Positano (where we spent an afternoon) and not quite as upscale, but just as charming. At the hotel, we had a beach-front room, and the view from our balcony was jaw-dropping. Although in the room during the afternoon the hustle and bustle from the street below was slightly noisy, we had no noise problems at night when we were ready for bed. Included in the room price was a wonderful breakfast buffet, with the opportunity to eat on the patio, also overlooking the beach. We also enjoyed a cocktail on the patio before dinner one evening, complete with complimentary hors d'ouevres (bruschetta, peanuts, chips, and olives). On both occasions, the wait staff was attentive and friendly. Our room was small-ish, but clean and well-appointed with newer bathroom fixtures. My one complaint is that the mattress was quite firm -- if you are used to a cushy pillow top mattress, you will notice a difference. When we checked out, we were again impressed with the efficiency and professionalism of the staff. The only other potential drawback of the Residence Hotel is that there is not a pool -- This was fine for us, as we likely would not have used it even if there was one, but good to know if a pool is something that is important to you. Overall, we highly recommend the Residence Hotel and would definitely stay there again if we are lucky enough to find ourselves in Amalfi again anytime soon :)

This hotel is very old - originally a merchant's house, and has recently been renovated. The foyer and bar/ dining area on the first floor are spacious and rather impressive. We really enjoyed meeting for drinks in the evening on the terrace overlooking the sea- the service was great , with complimentary nibbles. Breakfast there was also excellent- a wide variety of choices. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful.

Friendly, clean, comfortable hotel by the entrance to beautiful Amalfi.

The room was large with a gorgeous view of the Mediterranean. From our balcony we could see the cozy beach, a mini roundabout surveilled by the expressive, courteous and tolerant urban police. A bit further a small harbor with boats to Positano and Capri.

Breakfast was served on the beautiful terrace by kind and attentive staff who would learn your taste in coffee at the first order. Fresh fruit as well as delicious local pastries were part of a generous buffet.

Front desk staff were ready to assist and provide helpful tips, such as "don't drive to Positano, take the boat and enjoy the sun without having to spend time driving the curvy coastline or looking for expensive parking".

After three nights there we sailed to Capri for two nights and returned to the Residence Hotel in Amalfi for one more night before heading back to Naples airport. Our friend at the front desk received us with the warmest familiar Bentornati!

Room Tip: The larger rooms have smaller balconies. The not so large rooms facing the Mediterranean have balco...

We have just returned from our 5 night stay where we had a wonderful time at this lovely hotel.
The location is perfect. Will suit all ages.
Beautiful views from our balcony, very clean and comfortable room, with good quality bedding and towels. All of the staff from the front desk to the terrace staff were so helpful, friendly and nothing was too much bother for them. Our bedroom and bathroom were cleaned to a high standard. The breakfast which was very enjoyable, was made even more so by being served on the terrace. In the evening it is so relaxing sitting on the terrace enjoying a glass of wine and taking in the wonderful views. Prices are reasonable too. Both my niece and I loved Amalfi, and intend to return next year, and Hotel Residence will definitely be where we will choose to stay.
Thank you to all the staff for making our visit so enjoyable

Room Tip: " Room 19 is excellent"

We stayed in many rooms along the Amalfi coast and this was our favorite. The staff was extremely helpful and sociable. Parking was available and really not as complicated as it seemed it was going to be. Our room had a nice balcony facing the see and was just steps away fromm the main shopping area and duomo. I would definitely stay here again.

My mother and I stayed for a few nights and did not want to leave. The views from the balcony were stunning and the updated spa showers is what you want to wake up to. The church bells stop ringing at 11pm, which is nice for those who are not accustomed to late night noise. The morning breakfast was good and being able to sit outside on the terrace and take in the view was a perfect way to start our day. The hotel is conveniently located close to where the buses & ferries pick you up & drop you off. We found the people very friendly and I look forward to returning for another visit.

This was one of my favorite hotels from my recent Europe trip. Amalfi itself is just wonderful and this hotel was just perfect. Modern, but classical, clean, roomy, just great. Staff were very firendly and helpful, hotel is just accross the road from the sea, and backs onto Amalfi cathedral. The bathroom is awesome with a jacuzzi shower! Breafast was really good too, with the option to eat out on the balcony looking out onto the sea. No complaints at all. Extra big thank you to the lovely staff- I had an upset stomach one morning and asked for peppermint tea- they had run out, but one of the staff went out to pick fresh mint and brew me a cup!! Just lovely.
