“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

The hotel was nice. The staff was helpful & friendly, we had a flat tire & the guy (don't rember his name) helped us get it fixed. Great views.

The only disadvantage was the ditance to/from Amalfi, had to use the shuttle which was pretty regular.

The hotel, highly recommended by a friend, was everything she raved about. The staff was very helpful, particularly providing shuttle service to and from Amalfi. The room was spacious, with a decent size bathroom. The room's terrace was very nice, with a spectacular view of Amalfi, Salerno off in the distance, and the shoreline heading toward Positano. The one drawback was constant barking from several dogs above, to the side, and below the hotel. I only learned, just prior to writing this review, that the pool visible from our terrace, across the road and down some steps, was available to hotel guests. We were told about walking down into Amalfi. Although we enjoyed the experience, we didn't walk back up to the hotel. Our first couple of breakfasts were excellent, with a wide variety of items to eat. Successive breakfasts became more meager by the day. Dinner was available so long as you informed the staff that morning. They were excellent.

We booked in for an initial 3 night stay, and extended to 5 nights in two separate rooms. From the initial email exchange with the lovely Maddalena, to our warm welcome all the staff did everything they could to help us get the best out of our stay. Both rooms were spotlessly clean with a Jacuzzi bath in one and an excellent shower in the other. The first room did not have a view but was spacious well appointed and clean. There is an amazing view from the breakfast terrace, and the same view from the beautiful pool which is across the road and down some steps. The superior room had a jaw dropping view and the terrace was immense. The shuttle service is a life saver - we walked into Amalfi along the old route through olive and lemon groves which was beautiful. We also did the return trip - once :) The shuttle service is quick and always delivered with a smile. Breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit, pastries, juice, ham, cheese and other items which varied daily. Maddalena also helped us book further accommodation in Ravello, and I have no problem recommending this place to anyone else and would happily stay here again.

Room Tip: Superior Room has a large terrace but is more expensive. If all you need your room for is to sleep...

A cute villa hotel near Amalfi. Hospitable and friendly staff. Breathtaking view from the terrace accompanying your breakfast or dinner. Clean rooms. If you don't like fitness training by walking down to or up from Amalfi by stairs – there is a shuttle service available for you on demand which delivers you in 10 minutes to Amalfi center and beach. Few steps from the hotel there is a pool with sun beds, tables, bar and snack service. Territory of the hotel and pool is covered by wi-fi, but in our suit downstairs it was unstable. Our balcony was on the road side, so it was a little noisy when it was open. The rest – excellent. So I may say it was wonderful days that we stayed at this hotel. I also recommend to rent a scooter trough hotel (it's cheaper and delivery is provided) to explore Amalfi coast and its wonderful and spectacular views! Ciao

First, we appreciate all who rated so highly to help us make a selection for our first trip to Amalfi. We try hard to be patient with problems so as not to be viewed as another "ugly American." All properties may have problems with a room from time to time, but it's THE WAY THEY HANDLE THEM THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE.
Here's what we found upon arriving at our "Deluxe" 220 E/night room:
1) Tub with no shower curtain...no way to keep from getting water all over the floor.
2) Room not cooled with A/C for our arrival on an unusually hot Sept. afternoon...top floor, facing the sun, no door opened to private terract=OVEN.
3) Once A/C started cooling, it leaked condensation all over the bedroom floor, which we immediately started collecting with limited towels and the waste container.
4) Maddalena seemed insulted when we politely reported the issues, and stated that it was "impossible" that the A/C would leak water. We also noticed that the A/C air filters were FILTHY, thus limiting the air flow. I removed them temporarily to remedy that problem. The bathroom exhaust fan was also full of lint, reducing its effectiveness. The young man helping Maddalena said that he would fix everything while we were out for dinner, but nothing had changed upon our return late that evening. I have photos if anyone would like to see proof.
5) The following morning, I politely asked if it would be possible for us to depart without futher charge, but Maddalena quickly printed off their cancellation policy...no way. Not being fluent in English, Maddalena demanded that I "write all problems down" for her. No apology whatsoever for any inconveniences.
6) Less importantly, their are many many steps to get to this Deluxe room and one other. Not a problem for us, but could be for some. Also, the property is not in Amalfi, but is actually in a small village of "Lone."
7) For 220E/night, we learned that there are better values in the area, even around pricery Positano. I don't mind the rate as long as there's good service.

Bottom line, these are young people managing this property, who in our opinion, haven't learned how you're supposed to treat clients. THEIR POOR ATTITUDE IS UNACCEPTABLE AT ANY PRICE, BUT ESPECIALLY FOR 220 E/NIGHT.

We recommend that you look further at not be disappointed with a four night stay that will be in excess of $1000!

My husband and I love coming to the Amalfi Coast for our anniversary since we came here on our honeymoon. I am so glad we found Villa Felice because they really made this trip memorable. The awesome customer service began the minute we pulled in. Madeline helped us with our bags up the stairs to our room and offered us a wonderful welcome. When we saw our room, we were impressed. We choose the deluxe room when booking and we are SO GLAD we did. It was very big, clean, and beautifully decorated. It had a huge flat screen tv and a mini bar. The best part of the whole room though is the terrace. It is IMMENSE. It has two tables, big lounge chairs and many places to sit and relax. Absolutely break taking views on Amalfi and the coast. They even brought us up breakfast everyday so we could take advantage of the sun and scenery. I also loved the bathroom which had the traditional amalfi style tiles and an awesome window in the shower you could open and look out at the sea.
We didn't plan on eating at the hotel originally, but were tired the first night and thought "what the heck". We were blown away by the food and the romantic setting the staff created for us. We ate dinner the rest of our time there, it was that good. The menu is fixed though and based on sea food, but if my picky Italian husband will eat every bite that is saying something (especially since he usually doesn't like seafood).
The other great part was the 24 hour rides to and from Amalfi offered by the staff. While we enjoyed the walk down from the hotel to town (there is a pedestrian only path that has a lot of stairs but really cool views of lemon groves, the sea and houses and is about 3km to amalfi) the way back up may be difficult for a lot of people. The few times we did call for a ride they were there to get us within minutes and bring us back to the hotel.
Honestly, I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. I am American but have lived in Italy for five years so I know what to expect from European hotels (small, overpriced, aging, unfriendly at times) but Villa Felice and the staff exceeded even my most "American" expectations. We are very happy that we have found a place we will enjoy coming to every year!
