My wife & I stayed 7 nights at Villa Lara. On the whole, we thoroughly enjoyed the experiece of staying there. Nello (Mein Host) certainly made the visit an enjoyable & delightful occasion.
The room was good (quiet and with good airconditioning). Two small issues: One downside was that the shower unit had a seat in the cubicle which cut down on the space available - it made for very constricted manouverability. The other was that we found the beds fairly firm (almost on par with a futon), although after a couple of nights you got used to it.
As I'm a Kiwi, Nello had great delight in showing me his version of the HAKA - a sight to behold! Apart from his gregarious and fun loving nature, he made us most welcome and gave good advice on things to do and restaurants to visit. Most evenings he would sit and talk to us while we sipped on Limonchello with Tea or Coffee. On that particular issue we found the cost of inhouse drinks most reasonable, unlike some hotels in the area which charged like 'wounded bulls'!
I have no hesitation in saying that we would (and most likely will!) go back and stay there. It's quiet, and not far from the center of of Amalfi.
