“Superb Dei Cavalieri”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2009

The one of the highlights of my this year’s Italian holiday was visiting Amalfi, which in turn proved to be very relaxing holiday because of the superb facilities which I had in the Hotel Dei Cavalieri. It is a white building surrounded by the floral climbers, and had commanding view over the Salerno bay. I had a beautiful spacious room with cool Italian tiled flooring, and from the balcony one could see the sea below. Breakfast provisions were well stocked. Though it has no dinning facilities, but had arrangements with two well situated restaurants, both overlooking the bay, who had free car service to pick up and bring back clients from the hotel. Culinary prowess of both these restaurants is excellent. My stay in the hotel was relaxing and enjoyable because of the friendly staff the hotel had. George and Antonio spoke good English and very helpful to look after the needs of the customers. Franco though did not speak or understood English, but his uncanny understanding of the foreign guests’ need would make him go to any length to satisfy them. All these staffs were presided over by Simona, who was the embodiment of the saying “hostess is the mostest.” Her looking after the hotel customers’ the smallest needs, guiding them to the available facilities, and running the hotel like clockwork made her unique. Her management skill and customer’s relation made her jewel in the crown of Hotel Dei Cavalieri.

We arrived and were met by the hotel staff who were so friendly. Simona on Reception was full of smiles and remembered my name from emails made to confirm the booking some 3 months earlier.
The rooms were comfortable and the views fantastic. We were made to feel special throughout our stay and the team had excellent customer service skills from the breafast staff through to the night porter.
Our hotel staff and service experience that followed at the much grander Hotel Paradiso in Naples paled against the Dei Cavalieri considerably.

In Amalfi, Italy. Great Views of the coast. 10 mins walking to the city center from where you can get ferry, bus, etc. Breakfast was good.

I had an incredible experience staying at the Dei Cavalieri Hotel in Amalfi, and would highly recommend it to any travelers who are going to be staying in the area. The rooms were beautiful, and we had a large, gorgeous, private balcony off of our room with an incredible view of the ocean. The hotel was clean, and the breakfast was by far the best we had our entire trip (fresh lemon juice, strawberries, kiwi, watermelon, pastries, etc.).

The hotel is just up the hill from the center of amalfi, and it is very cheap and easy to catch the Sita bus from the hotel to the center of town ( bus stop is right across the street). The staff was very friendly and so courteous; they could not have been nicer or more accomodating!

All in all, this was the best hotel I stayed in during my ten day visit to the Amalfi coast. I would absolutely recommend it to travelers of all ages. It really made the trip!

This hotel was just like being with a family who wanted you to have a happy and memorable stay.

After travelling Europe to this far away destination to be greeted by such friendly staff we knew we would have a special experience.

Our room was homely , large and exceptionally clean. Had a lovely balcony where you can enjoy glimses of the gulf of Salerno.

The best suprise was the breakfast, beautiffuly fresh and a huge choice served with excellent coffee.

The staff were very friendly and helpful in every way, so many hotels in Europe could learn from this family run hotel about service, truly unique especially in Italy. I left a gold bracelet behid that has sentimental value, one phone call and it was waiting for me on my return to Australia after 6 weeks travelling.

Almalfi is a wonderful destination although hard to get to, but the journy can be a great experiance if approached in a positive frame of mind.

Once there, Amalfi is trully beautiful. For me personally St Andrea's cathedral was a 'holy' place never to be forgotten.

  • Liked — Friendly and professional staff / Fantastic Breakfast
  • Disliked — Access back from the town centre can be hilly but a bus / taxi is available.

the staff were great.very welcoming and helpful, friendly and efficient.the theme for the decor had me scratching my head for the whole weekend.from the giant statue of the warrior at the foot of the stairs to the bric -a-brac of jugs, boxes etc. and the antique farming implements the theme escaped me(but fun to try and work it out).
the hotel is located a little out of town up the main road north.i say up as it was a ten minute walk to the town centre and a good twenty minutes back, but a regular and frequent bus service stopped just outside the hotel that went right into the town if you dont think you need the exercise.
popular trips to visuvius pompei etc can be booked through the hotel with pick up from the door.
we had a superior room which if i`m honest was a tad on the small side and i`m guessing it was graded as superior as we had a balcony and an wonderful view of the sea and the town.
be aware that the hotel resteraunt has closed.breakfast was served downstairs near the main reception which was a continental buffet but with a wide variety of choice.for evening meal no resteraunt was not a major problem as there is a reasonably good one about two minutes away towards the town and the other hotels between you and the town are open to non-residents.i would however recommend that you use this slight inconvenience as a good excuse to go into town as there is a plethoria of excellent eating establishments not only on the main streets but some hidden gems in the numerous side alleyways.
if i return to amalfi i would stay here again due in no small measure to the excellence of the staff(and maybe to try to crack the decor code)

My wife and i stayed in this hotel during our lovely holiday in amalfi coast.
Our room had a little terrace with fanstastic view like everywhere in amalfi coast and we really enjoyed to have our glass of wine and looking at the sunset!
Staff are ok and they did it the best for helping us in finding place to visit and place to see!
This hotel is not far from Amalfi and they have a courtesy minibus to take you down.
Amalfi is really nice but if you have a chance to visit a village called Pogerola whic is situated only 10 minutes by Sita bus from the hotel please drop in Gerry's pub and resturant .
We had a fanstastic diner there eating really italian homemade food and the bill was more then honest.
Gerry himself is a fanstastic guy and he played his piano for us in his fanstatic terrace.
At the end of the night we realised that we really found a friend in amalfi coast and we promised to come back as soon as we can!
