“A stay in this hotel is a definite must!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2011

An excellent hotel- the views were spectacular from the roof top terrace! You must arrive to Amafi by boat - what a sight!!! The hotel is very near a beach away from central Amalfi which in our view was the local's beach - well worth a visit. The hotel provided us with a shuttle service down to Amalfi but we thoroughly enjoyed the walk (not to be done with luggage). A stay in this hotel is a definite must and breakfast was AMAZING!! Also - Capri is a great trip to do from Amalfi.

The Hotel has a beautiful view, after that it was down hill. Our room was infested with ants!!! the air conditioned worked below acceptable, the shower had only scallding hot water. The walk to town was long and impossible to walk up hill for 20-30 minutes. The beach was not within walking distance. A major disappointment!!!!! The bed and pillows were rock hard. Left a day early!

Room Tip: Ask for one with working air conditioning and not one were the ants are infested.

We stayed one night and enjoyed the fact that we could cross the road and walk down to Amalfi and really enjoyed it at night the views were spectacular. The room was okay as we didn`t spend that much time in it but it was clean and comfortable.
The staff were very friendly and helpful especially at breakfast time which was lovely we had different things such as boiled eggs and salad.
It was also good to have a car park undercover.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with a view

The Dei Cavalieri sits on the cliffs west of Amalfi with a drop-dead gorgeous view of the sea, the floating palaces at anchor, the little boats coming and going and the cruise ships passing by. A view to die for - so make sure you get a sea view room.
It is an old-fashioned hotel in the sense that it has been there a long time, the staff are like a family, the rooms have wonderful antique furniture. All that is good - it isn't a modern 5-star tower and all the better for that. But there are downsides - the bathrooms are old-fashioned too (the shower is a square tray with a curtain round it so it isn't possible not to get the floor wet.), the lift/elevator is tiny. But these are small niggles. A bigger niggle is that it says the 'beach' is 10 minutes away. Well I don't call it a beach if the sand is brick-sized, and the 10 minutes is down - not back up, you have to get to the bottom of the cliffs. There are options that you get to by boat from town (for free) but then you face the problem of getting to/from town. You wouldn't drive - Amalfi is rammed, so you wait for the infrequent hotel shuttle or walk. 15 minute walk downhill, we tended to take the public bus back. The hotel has no pool (space is at the most incredible premium on these vertiginous slopes) but there is parking - leave your keys at the desk and they shuffle cars around to let folks out and in.
No restaurant, so you have to go out to eat. But the breakkfast is pretty good. We would go back - for the view alone!

Room Tip: Don't go if you can't get a sea view

Big hotel with simple airy rooms. All clean however missing certain amenities such as fridge which is quite important. Also the walls are thin so you can hear people in other rooms.

Decent breakfast, nice fresh bread and coffee.

Good service at the reception. Also they have a 'solarium' upstairs where they have sun beds and a nice view overlooking the ocean. However they hardly mention this which is a shame as it's nicer than the beaches in Amalfi!

The big downside of this hotel is that it is quite far from the cetnre where all the restaurants are. It takes about 20 minutes to walk down to the centre but a good 30 mins coming back up which is quite tiring. They do offer a shuttle bus service but this is at fixed times in the morning and early evening so no help at the end of an evening. Also make sure you ask them what car they have to pick you up as we didn't know and so waited to get picked up but didn't know which car to go to (doesn't have any markings on it)

After a smooth check in a very helpful Simona ( Front Office Manager ) showed us to our room. After entering the room Simona opened the shutters on to the very large balcony and "BANG" what a jaw dropping view. We were looking down toward's Amalfi and around the coast to Salerno and to were the sky meets the sea. In the evening we sat on our balcony sipping wine watching the world go by and the beautiful yacht's in the bay.
Breakfast was another great experience, plenty of verity to suit all and lots of it. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was kept very clean and plenty of towels were provided. A stay in the Dei Cavalieri Hotel is a worth while experience while in Amalfi.

Room Tip: Ask for room 211.

We had been to Sorrento, Capri, Positano, Ravello and enjoyed all the hotels - Dei Cavalieri in Amalfi did not do it for us - Only 1 lady staff friendly, the rest not helpfull at all + their so called shuttle service to town is running at odd hours so we could not even use it. Do not recommend.

All our staff is well-known for its kindness. Everywhere, in the guest-book on our front-desk, and also in any report on trip advisor, facebook, twitter ecc..our hotel is recommended for smiling people working-here always helpful and friendly.
As written on all web-site our free shuttle-service is available at fixed schedule. The same schedule is given to our clients together with our welcome letter.
We never promise a 24-hours shuttle-service running all day.
