We stayed here as part of a group travel program the last week of September. As others have noted, the hotel is located about a 10-15 minute drive from town. There is a stairway that allows you to walk to town, and some of our group used it. Between the free hotel shuttle and the local public bus, it's rather easy to get to Amalfi and back. Taxis are very expensive-- charge @ 20 Euros for the trip.

Our room was large and had a wonderful patio with an amazing view. The bathroom and bedroom were both in need of updating. While this place may have once been grand, not so much now.

We found the staff friendly and helpful. Some in our group asked for extra pillows, etc., and all requests were handled well. The front desk staff was particularly good and willing to help with information about bus and ferry schedules, etc.

The real downer was the dinners at the hotel. While not bad, the food was certainly not good. It's awful to be in Italy and not be eating wonderful food. We did get up the hill to Gerry's pub one night. It's a very good family-run restaurant, but be aware if you go that Gerry may require you to listen to him sing Dean Martin songs while he plays a keyboard before he'll bring your check.

This is by far the best place to stay in Amalfi. It is just outside of town, up on a breathtaking hill. The hotel offers a free bus every day into town. The rooms have french doors that open onto a balcony that over looks the ocean. Half board is amazing. Waiters in white tuxs serving amazing food under silver platters. Truly the best hotel I have stayed at in Europe. It even has a private beach!

My parents stayed at this hotel when we all came to Amalfi for my wedding. The hotel was further from town than expected, and unless you wanted to wait for their shuttles, the ride to town with their "taxis" was double of what the local taxis charged. The staff was rude to my elderly parents and not at all accommodating when my mother was trying to get information to have a dinner for the ladies of the wedding party at their hotel. The staff was terrible, almost hostile. It really felt like they didn't even want us there. Worst part was we had all stayed at the Excelsior in Sorrento a few days before and they had gone above and beyond. What a shame, too, because Amalfi is one of the most beautiful places we have ever traveled. One of the friendliest places, too. Too bad this hotel had to lessen my family's experience.

The hotel is located in the highest point of Amalfi. The website says that it is only few minutes by the shuttle from hotel to the beach but it takes 15 minutes. The shuttle is very small for a such hotel and we had to stand for 15 minutes. The hotel is extremely old. There is only internet connection in the lobby and it is very slow. The worst thing is that towels are very old and rotthen.
