“Beautiful hotel, beautiful view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

The Marina Riviera is such a charming hotel! It includes a nice complementary breakfast that you can enjoy on the balcony, overlooking the water. We booked a standard room - which had a balcony with a perfect view. The best part of this hotel is its beachfront location. Being at the front line of hotels on the coast, nothing gets in the way of a perfect view.

As for getting to Amalfi in general, I would recommend arriving in Sorrento earlier in the day. We made the mistake of arriving at 8pm (which is quite dark). At that point, we had no other option but to take the bus from Sorrento to Amalfi (about 1.5 hours?). We also had to wait at Sorrento (where the bus ticket office almost closed) for about half an hour, waiting for a "blue bus". The bus also happened to be very old, and was going fast along narrow roads along the mountain in pitch black 10pm. On the way back, we figured out that a ferry ride is available at certain times during the day. The ferry is the way to go.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights during peak season in August for our honeymoon. Staff was wonderful, putting a complementary bottle of sparkling wine in our room and were always quick to help. Enjoyed the continental breakfast on the balcony overlooking the beach and harbor, and the well appointed rooms.

Overall great value for the price, within 3-5 minutes walk of the town square in Amalfi. Can't wait to return!

This was our last stop during our honeymoon trip and it does seem that we saved the best until last! Like a previous review has mentioned the only problem we encountered during our stay was actually entering the hotel on our arrival as it isn't particularly obvious from the street which is the entrance but once we did find our way in we were just blown away, the staff were very helpful congratulated us on our recent marriage and showed us to our beautiful room with prosecco and fruit and just the most amazing view waiting for us. The room was of a very high standard and spotlessly clean, balcony with I think the best view of amalfi, bathroom with both bath and shower we couldn't find a single fault!! Breakfast on the terrace over looking that view was the best we had during our stay in Italy, eggs cooked to your liking, fresh coffee or a choice of tea, plenty of fresh fruit yogurt, various juices, cakes, bread ham and cheese everything you would want. We also spent a few afternoons relaxing by the pool another spot not to miss, all in all a wonderful hotel in a wonderful position with wonderful staff, should we return to amalfi we would not hesitate to stay at the marina riviera.

A perfect Amalfi coastal hotel. The staff was the friendliest and most accommodating that we encountered during this trip to Italy, especially Alessandro! The breakfast was fantastic. The location was great with incredible views of the sea, the beach, the coast and the village! We wished we could have extended our stay. Can't wait to return some day.

Room Tip: All the rooms are different. If possible splurge for a deluxe room as they are very spacious. HIghe...

We arrived by ferry to see our hotel sitting on the hill with views over Amalfi. When approaching the hotel from the road it is difficult to locate. For some reason they do not have a sign indicating where the lift is nor the hotel. We lugged our bags up about 50 steps to get to the reception before realising a lift was in place. That was the only problem we encountered. We had a room with fantastic views overlooking Amalfi. The large window in our room opened and that night we went to sleep listening to the sounds of the pounding waves. Breakfast is set in the most divine position with views over the water and on to Amalfi. Staff were extremely friendly and breakfast was exceptional with ability to order eggs of your choice. Would not stay anywhere else if we go back to Amalfi.

Our first visit to the beautiful Amalfi coast was enhanced by our choice of hotel. The Marina Riviera is a charming stylish hotel situated on the coast road overlooking the beach and the bustling harbour. It has a lovely sunny terrace where breakfast is served, and very good it is too, with fresh fruit juices, bread and croissants and a wonderful selection of meats and cheeses, eggs and coffee or tea. We had a standard room, with a sea view, which was clean and comfortable. We slept with the window open so we could be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves. The only disadvantage to this was the dustcart which starts collecting very early in the morning! The bed linen and towels were changed daily. The staff are friendly and helpful. Although there isn't a restaurant in the hotel, we enjoyed strolling into Amalfi in the evening and finding somewhere to eat.

Well i have to say i am picky in breakfast but their are just fine.
unfortunately to catch an early train, i only spent five minutes in the sala!!! But i tried couples of breakfast and taste just good. The standard room is clean and equipped well with amendities. As a honeymoon treatment, i also received prosecco sparkling and fruites.

Room Tip: mine is a standard, it is just workable
