“Really great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

The reception staff were excellent - friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were good. Location was the best in Amalfi - very near the main square but with great views of the beach sea and hills behind.
We had a great room (quite large and tastefully decorated with a very private, pergola-covered balcony with an unbeatable view. Ate in town every night as such a choice of fabulous restaurants.

We stayed at the Marina Riviera in May 2012. The staff were friendly on check in and it only improved from there. Service and selection at breakfast was wonderful. Our room had an expansive view of the Town and the sea. There is some road noise at night but the double glazing/ window joinery is very effective in blocking that out. The Hotel seemed to be family run and all the staff greeted us like long time guests. Nothing was too much trouble. It was interesting to see a small unobtrusive photo of an athlete carrying the Olympic Flame in the 1960 Olympics. Look carefully and you may notice the resemblance to the Patron of the Hotel!
He may modestly acknowlege the past. Geoff and Maree Christchurch.

The Marina Riviera is a little gem right in the heart of Amalfi. The staff are so welcoming & friendly - a total pleasure. The rooms are functional but they do have a few beautifully decorated suites & rooms to the front of the hotel overlook the hustle & bustle of Amalfi & it is a pleasure to sit on the balcony & watch the world go by. A short walk from the hotel brings you straight into the center where there are plenty of bars, cafes & shops

Room Tip: Rooms to the front to people watch

We travelled throughout Italy for two weeks, and relied on Tripadvisor for our hotel arrangements. We were thoroughly impressed with how easy this place was to find (remembered someone on T'advisor mentioning a restaurant Eulo and saw the place just up the hill!). From the bus drop-off in town it was a couple of minutes walk up to the left (when facing the ocean). We missed the signage, as we were focussing on the traffic weaving around the cliffface!
Excellenty front desk staff, very helpful. The rooms are small, but gorgeous views. There was a terracotta roof in our way, so I would suggest you book better rooms, which are actually on a lower level. Both air conditioning vents were not working properl;y, but we didn't bother complaining too much as we only needed the room to sleep.
Sadly this place is ridiculously expensive for what you get. However, the pool was just fantastic, the proximity to the main areas was great in the heat, and the staff were awesome.

Let's get to the point. Horrible horrible horrible lunch foods. even worse cocktails. My bd ordered egg sandwich an literally came out with a couple old boiled eggs cut in half , slapped on with mustard and pickles as they call it "cucumbers" worse sandwich we have ever had. His Mojito wasn't even a Mojito. It was probably because they had the luggage guy Do the cooking and bartending too. He probably had no clue. Funny though, their breakfast buffet was pretty decent.

Moreover, our ac did not work. We were told maintenance had no clue howto fix it and that outside maintenance was gone for the day. Their solution? A freakin fan. They didn't even give us a discount on our room that was in the basement. We had to open the window since it was so hot, but it was near groind level, so
We could hear everything, the music from the club across the street to the picking up of trash at 4 am in the morning. Couldn't sleep!

In summary, bad lunch, good breakfast, good location, very noisy, small rooms if you don't get the junior suite.

We stayed at Hotel Marina Riviera for 6 days while attending our son's wedding in Ravello. The staff could not have been more helpful in arranging accommodations for approx 20 of our guests - not an easy feat with guests changing their itineraries on multiple occasion prior to departure from the U.S.. Roberta was most accommodating and dealt with all of my small/large issues with professionalism and humor. Finding a hotel that would meet our rather high standards, yet be within a price point that would be comfortable for the wedding guests, was accomplished.
Stunning views of the coast, lovely roof top pool area, comfortable and airy common areas - the rooms were simple, fresh and spotless (deluxe doubles balconies opened out to the fabulous seafront). Breakfast was wonderful and offered something for everyone, including American eggs!
Location is prime. Close enough to walk to main piazza & docks but removed enough that you are not in the midst of buses/taxis coming/going, hustle-bustle of ferry loading/unloading.
Wonderful family run feel of hotel made for a very comfortable, cozy and afforable stay. Everyone from hotel management to housekeeping extended themselves over and over to our group with sincere affection and interest.
A simple delight!

Room Tip: Double deluxe offers a lovely balcony that opens out to the coast - worth the little extra

This was my first trip to Amalfi and the Hotel Marina Riviera was a perfect choice. My boyfriend and I are in our twenties and we loved as much as my parents who joined us.

It is in a fantastic location, just a short walk past the beach to the main piazza and all shops/restaurants. We had deluxe rooms with a seafront balcony which I would hugely recommend as the view is simply stunning. The breakfast was top quality and a brilliant variety. The pool area and sun deck is lovely and we spent many relaxing afternoons here.

There is a lovely family run feel to the hotel and all the staff are incredibly friendly and professional. They are constantly cleaning and maintaining all areas of the hotel to a very high standard.

Our meal at Eolo was by far the best food in Amalfi also!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 55 and it was lovely, my parents were in room 56 and that was even nicer as it had...
