“Unforgettable vacation: Amazing hotel, staff, and wedding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2011

My husband and I got married at Hotel Marina Riviera (HMR) and it was truly perfect. I'll describe what we experienced in two parts: the first will describe our experience with our hotel stay; the second will focus on our experience with wedding ceremony that we performed on the hotel's roof terrace.
Part 1: The Hotel Stay
Service: The service was truly exceptional. I can't stress this enough. Everyone on the staff is genuinely friendly and helpful. This came in particularly handy as we approached our wedding day, but more on that later.
Location:
The hotel is located in the town of Amalfi (on the Amalfi coast) and is just down the street (3 minute walk) from the town center. The center is where the ferry station, bus station, and beach are all located. Just across the street from all of that is a strip that houses the majority of shops and restaurants in Amalfi. In short, HMR is a short walk from anything most travellers would want to be close to. The hotel also happens to be situated on a piece of land that juts out onto the ocean a bit. The result is absolutely stunning ocean/cliff views from the hotel.
The room:
We stayed in a room with a balcony and one of those aforementioned stunning views. The room and hotel in general is clean and beautiful. The view from the room, however, is a real differentiator. Waking up each morning, opening up your balcony door at the sound of crashing waves and sitting on a private balcony with a full on view of the Amalfi coast is not a bad way to spend a couple of vacation days.
Amenities:
Breakfast was included in our stay and it was delicious. It consisted of an assortment of pastries, chef’s specials of the day (egg based and other cooked items), antipasto, several beverage options, including cappuccinos. Not to mention, the breakfast terrace is super nice with some (you guessed it) awesome views. Wi-fi is included and in addition, they have a nice desktop in the lobby you can use.
Part 2: The Wedding Planning
Support:
The hotel staff was instrumental in pulling off what my husband and I consider to be our dream wedding. Everyone was so supportive and patient from the beginning all the way up to the ‘I do’. The staff was accessible and responsive to every request (recommending an officiant and hairdresser, setting up on the wedding day, providing appetizers and drinks for wedding guests, facilitating transportation from hotel to reception sight, etc.). I did all of my planning via email and phone from the States and thanks to the service at HMR, I can say that my wedding planning was overall stress-free.
Venue:
The wedding ceremony took place on the top floor terrace. It is gorgeous up there; I’ll leave it at that. See the photos attached.
In summary, our entire experience at HMR was exceptional. My husband and I just got back from Italy and already we’re eager to go back and stay at Hotel Marina Rivera. It is an awesome hotel with an outstanding staff and phenomenal views.

Our room was very nice, it was not decorated so fabulous but the room we had, had french doors that opened to a small balcony with obviously views to the Amalfi Coast and looking down to the town. It was comfortable but not luxurious. The Hotel itself was very Boutiqueish,They serve continental Breakfast on their balcony which is very picturesque and it was by far the best breakfast we had in all of Europe. Aside from all the wonderful fresh goodies on the buffet table, which they changed everyday, they would ask you how you like your eggs, you can have any style & they would make it on the spot, no one does that !! The cappuccino coffee and espresso "ON THE HOUSE", which by the way if you went to buy one it would be around E3.25 which is about $4,75 for a coffee. The Euro is out of control , so that makes continental breakfast a huge savings, and lots of value !!
The entire staff i thought was very friendly. The location of the hotel is perfect, just a short walk to the square where you can shop to your hearts content and to the port as well in case you decide to take a ferry to Capri for the day !
We love this hotel and i would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

The hotel is fantastic! Great location and with a panoramic view of the city. Great value with the hospitality of a small hotel.

We booked a twin centre holiday with Citalia (Amalfi and Florence) and firstly I have to say Citalia were absolutely excellent from start to finish. They arranged all our transfers and everything went smoothly. HIghly recommend to anyone looking to book an Italian holiday. They recommended Marina Riviera to us and it was the perfect choice - we upgraded our room to one with a balcony and we had a great view of the shoreline, glad we spent the extra. The staff were so friendly and helpful, booking restaurants, arranging concerts etc. nothing was too much trouble. The food at Eolo restaurant (Marina Riviera restaurant) was excellent and thoroughly recommend going here for a special occasion. This hotel was perfectly situated for Amalfi town and also a 2 minute walk from the bus stop/port to travel to Positani, Capri etc. and our favourite, Ravello. The breakfasts were fantastic, everything was clean and the location couldn't have been better. We were sad to leave but will definitely come back and will return to Marina Riviera in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Upgrade to get a balcony room

Have to echo the reviews here, we've just come back from a lovely stay here. We had a seaview room which had a panoramic view of Amalfi bay. A 5 minute walk from the hotel to the centre of town meant you were far enough away for peace and quiet but close enough to not b e isolated.

The breakfasts each day were lovely, fresh pastries cooked eggs and again a terrace with one of the nicest views we have ever had from a hotel.

Staff are lovely here so welcoming and really couldn't do enough for you, top marks all around we would definitely return if we get the chance.

Just returned from a majestic tour of the Amalfi coast. If you care to experience the passion that Mr.& Mrs Gargano and their superb staff ( Roberta, Antonio, Pasquali ) welcome each and every guest, then think again, your'e not a guest at "hotel ", but more appropriately, a family member visiting the Gargano home. Located a brief walk from the Marina where you arrive via ferry, and the Piazzza Duomo, it's elevated on a cliff overlooking the Bay of Amalfi and the Cathedral of San Andrew, it will mesmerize you with romance and awe....Begin your day on the terrace, with a breakfast buffet that will dazzle you with Mr.Gargano's ( he's actually is in the kitchen) love of cucina italiano. Have you every had meatballs, eggplant parmesan, homemade pasta, for breakfast!!!!! Deliciouso!!! Arrivederci Marina Riviera and the Gargano's. ps. we missed the opening of the rooftop pool, gorgeous....

Room Tip: Request a seaview room. our room was 58

Wonderful staff, the owner remembered me after a four year absence. Before that, when we came to the hotel in August, 2007 the owner said, "you had room 53 in 1998." That kind of service is just unbelievable, but true at Hotel Marina Riviera. This classy, old-style but completely refurbished hotel features splendid, breathtaking views of the Amalfi coastline including nearby Amalfi old town center. Sparkling lights at night and if you're lucky, a moon slowly descending behind the mountains, casting its glittering trail across the water. It all adds up to an incredible romantic place to stay. Breakfast is uncommonly grand and wonderful especially considering the usual offerings in Italy. The egg selections are fantastic and unlike other hotels in Italy, there is no extra upcharge if you want an omelet. The nearby beach club, which the hotel has a partnership with, is friendly, clean and features a great bar with reasonable prices on food and drink. Bring your swim shoes for the beach, because it's all pebbles. (ouch for sensitive feet) Renting a kayak and exploring the bay is a fantastic way to appreciate the stunning scenery. Hosts the Garagano family are hard workers who put a great deal of time, and money, into their hotel. It shows in the excellent upkeep of all of the rooms and public spaces. We can't wait to come back and in fact, before I checked out, I made a booking for three nights in April, 2012.

Room Tip: Splurge and ask for rooms 52 or 53. They are the best in the entire hotel. 53 features an indoor/out...
