“The Best and Most Beautiful Location on the Amalfi Coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2011

Wonderful staff, the owner remembered me after a four year absence. Before that, when we came to the hotel in August, 2007 the owner said, "you had room 53 in 1998." That kind of service is just unbelievable, but true at Hotel Marina Riviera. This classy, old-style but completely refurbished hotel features splendid, breathtaking views of the Amalfi coastline including nearby Amalfi old town center. Sparkling lights at night and if you're lucky, a moon slowly descending behind the mountains, casting its glittering trail across the water. It all adds up to an incredible romantic place to stay. Breakfast is uncommonly grand and wonderful especially considering the usual offerings in Italy. The egg selections are fantastic and unlike other hotels in Italy, there is no extra upcharge if you want an omelet. The nearby beach club, which the hotel has a partnership with, is friendly, clean and features a great bar with reasonable prices on food and drink. Bring your swim shoes for the beach, because it's all pebbles. (ouch for sensitive feet) Renting a kayak and exploring the bay is a fantastic way to appreciate the stunning scenery. Hosts the Garagano family are hard workers who put a great deal of time, and money, into their hotel. It shows in the excellent upkeep of all of the rooms and public spaces. We can't wait to come back and in fact, before I checked out, I made a booking for three nights in April, 2012.

Room Tip: Splurge and ask for rooms 52 or 53. They are the best in the entire hotel. 53 features an indoor/out...

We stayed here for our honeymoon! We had a suite set off by ourselves. It was huge, huge even by American hotel suite standards. The main room was 20x25 with a large window and a sliding glass door to our patio. Our private patio overlooked the town and med. In a panoramic view. Our patio was huge, also 25 x25 with patio furniture etc. Breakfast included was lovely made by the owner whom enjoys cooking. Everything is modern and updated in our room with two LCD flat screen tvs, a jacuzzi tub and a separate marble and tile rain can shower with accessory wall jets. The town of Amalfi is a short five minute walk to the duomo. Alitalia lost our luggage, this apparently is normal for this poor airline. We do not recommend them at all. The hotel staff is excellent, friendly and went back to Naples to get our bags. You'll meet the owner and his wife, and the staff will know your name. We loved the hotel, sitting on the breakfast balcony overlooking the beach and town each morning was a lovely way to start the day.

We missed our check-out time because we got back from our friend's wedding very late and we were awake by a yelling manager telling us that we've got minutes to leave the room because they were fully booked. Ok, I perfectly understand what rules are, but that's definitely not the right way to treat your guests.
If this hotel is your only option - my advice... look somewhere else!

My husband & I spent 4 nights in Amalfi staying at the Marina Riviera. We had a deluxe room with a balcony looking directly out to see. Absolutely magnificent! The room was well furnished, comfortable, with a great bathroom & plenty of room. The breakfast terrace was stunning and breakfast itself was all you could ask for. We were so glad we chose to stay there. It is the best place by far in Amalfi & we can't wait to return.

Room Tip: High level (so no road noise), deluxe room

We stayed in this hotel as part of a Page and Moy holiday and paid an extra £500 to ensure we had a sea view. The sea was there, on the horizon, but in front of us was a roof which obscured most of the view. The room was poorly furnished, the wardrobe space ridiculously small, and the bathroom fittings old. The bathroom light was hanging out of the ceiling and the door handle kept falling off (despite keep leaving it off it was never fixed). The room was clean but the cleaners failed to remove things like dirty glasses or crockery.
The breakfast area was lovely and the food was good however, and that seems to be what this hotel bases its reputation on. Not enough in my view.
The hotel has a good position on the edge of Amalfi, but visitors should be warned that you step out of the hotel directly onto a fairly busy road which has no pedestrian footway.
One night the whole of Amalfi lost water. The hotel didn't bother to tell anyone - everyone found out when they either couldn't take a shower or flush the toilet. Although they provided 1lt bottles of water later in the evening they didn't exactly handle it well. They also seemed indifferent to problems or whether you were enjoying the stay.
Other travellers have pointed out that this hotel has no beach, pool, etc. Its very hard to see where it gets its fourth star from. If you get a good deal and pay three star prices for this hotel, then you've got its real worth.

Stayed in this hotel for three days, got upgraded to junior suite.Absolutely gorgeous rooms ,bed faced towards sea and woke to sound of the sea.Nice balcony with table and chairs.Spa bath over looked the sea as well. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking Amalfi and the sea was so beautiful.Drinks in the evening on the terrace before going to dinner was so relaxing and then a nice stroll down to the town where there are great restaurants and a lovely Italian village feeling.Chose Amalfi over Positano because it is much flatter and less expensive and just did day trips on ferry to Positano and Capri.Amalfi less crowded than Positano and nice to came back to a quieter place at night.Only complaint was rooms a bit noisy from passing traffic on street below hotel, but the view compensated for this and the service was terrific. This hotel set the standard for any future hotel stays in Italy

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview room
