“Lovely hotel just outside Amalfi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012 via mobile

This is a pretty nice hotel though a little dated in places like the main lounge. Breakfast is served on a lovely terrace overlooking the sea. Breakfast options are OK rather than great. The room was lovely - bright and fresh and spotlessly clean. Worth spending a bit extra on a superior room as you get a bigger terrace but all rooms have amazing sea views. It is a 15/20 minute walk into Amalfi itself which is fine but quite a steep climb.

The Miramalfi has a super location on the coast, with wonderful views from all public areas and most rooms. Staff are quite friendly and efficient and seem happy to be of service. A/C in the rooms works properly and can be set to function almost silently. No wi-fi in the rooms (lobby only, which incidentally could do with a bit of new furniture), which is a severe fault.
The sea water pool is ok, but the sea is better if you are a decent swimmer and the sea is calm (otherwise is too difficult to get in and out.
Food is not exceptional (you will most likely eat better and at similar prices in many of the restaurants in the Amalfi area and beyond); as an example, "peas and carrots" (probably coming fom a deep freezer) doesn't strike me as a typical regional and seasonal vegetable with fish...

Room Tip: Standars doubles are a bit cramped; superior doubles are much better and a good investment; try to g...

As always, service will define how enjoyable stay and comfortable a place a given hotel is.
This property rates high for service, especially their bar, pool and restaurant staff. Incredibly friendly and fantastically gracious.
The hotel is a convenient and lovely walk to town centre, altho a taxi return journey is recommended on a hot humid afternoon. Beautiful views and great photo opportunities.
But there is no internet access in the room nor the restaurant. Incredible and not to be believed !!! This was a problem for me as I had bits of work to do every morning - not by choice of course. The interiors require a serious rennovation - they are old and tired.
The "beach", pool and pool bar are not stellar but fun and laid back.
No English TV news channels.
I would return...

Room Tip: Ask for the above average size balcony. The small ones are quite stingy with space.

This hotel is not overly luxurious, but has other features that offset the basic rooms. The view from the balconies of the sea view rooms is stunning. The lounge area, altough small, is comfortable and also stunning vies of Amamlfi and the ocean. The restaurant is the same and if you have a package with two meals included, it's exellent value and really good food. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and they provide a shuttle service in to Amalfi and back, twice a day.
The atmosphere in the hotel makes for a relaxing holiday. Unfortunately, the weather was shocking, which wasn't their fault of course, but we were extremely disappointed to learn that the management don't put water in the pool until around May, and we were not aware of this. We were holidaying in April and thought we were going to a hotel that had a fully functional pool area. Overall, a great value hotel for a summer stay, although the hallways are extremely noisy.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a balcony and an ocean/ Amalfi view and a package that includes breakf...

I can't understand how anyone could pick fault with this hotel. The location, quality, value for money is unbeatable. My children delighted in jumping into the sea from the rocks. The blue parasols of the hotel fluttering in the breeze and the sun loungers perched haphazardly upon the rocks. Understated luxury! I have travelled the world, but seldom been so
Impressed. The view from the terrace is awe inspiring & magnificent. The staff are warm and friendly. I felt like Dorothy returning home to Kansas. Go and explore the many local restaurants and enjoy, Amalfi at its very best. I am booking for next year! I love Miramalfi!!!

Lovely hotel especially the swimming platform for the sea. Friendly and helpful staff. However there were no English speaking TV channels at all, the wi fi was not free and was incredibly slow and hit and miss., room on the small side. This compared unfavourably with the hotel we stayed in in Rome which was cheaper and had free wi fi and BBC world. The walk back to the hotel is quite a climb in hot weather and the bus service to and from the hotel is limited. Probably better off to stay nearer the town. Amalfi is expensive but not sure this hotel is great value for money.

Having only just returned on Friday 3rd Aug, after spending 10 days at the Miramalfi, feel i have to give a honest review. We travelled with Citalia, so had a private transfer to our hotel from the airport (Milan 1hr 20 mins). On arrival, we had a very warm welcome from the staff at front reception. Our luggage was taken to our rooms and we found it to be clean and cool (very affective aircon), if not a little dated.

We arrived just as dinner was being served and as we were half board, were greated by the restuarant and shown to our table over looking the sea. Every evening we had a 4 course dinner, but not being used to eating so much, found it got a little repetative. But what was served was delicious. Only complaint was a little too much seafood and pasta. Only because i don`t eat either. But the staff were really great and would always try and offer you something else. There were always 4 choices for the 3 main courses. My husband who does eat fish, said it was delicious.

Once a week the restuarant would hold a theme evening, one being a BBQ. we did not attend as we were expect to pay an extra 15 euro each to attend. Our only complaint really. We would not eat BBQ food in the first place and to be expected to pay extra for it was not fair. But if you don`t wish to attend you can just let staff know and you can dine as usual in the main resturant. We found on BBQ evening we had dining room and chef to ourselves.

The hotel, i would say was the best located in Amalfi, the views stunning and just 15 minutes down hill to village of Amalfi. Where you could go on any trip you wished to book. The local bus was very cheap and frequent, you can get to anywhere on the Island. Just beware, there is no queues and you must buy tickets before getting on bus. Available from most shops. You just stamp your ticket when you get on bus.

On arrival to hotel found the steps a little scarey down to pool and beach (man made shelf) , only because i have fear of heights, but the lifts take you almost to the bottom.

This hotel is clearly a 3 star, than 4. A little dated, but comfortable. Clean beds every day,as well as fresh towels. Plenty of hot water for showers (but with the heat, welcomed a cold one). You have a safe in your room, which costs just 5 euro, which is returned on departure. you also have a mini bar. Which with most hotels is a little pricey , but hey ,your on holiday. The drinks in the restuarant also a little pricey. 18 euro for a local bottle of wine. Which we found you can purchase for 8 euro in Amalfi mini market. So we did. we stocked up for our time there and had a bottle on our balcony after dinner, as we watched the sun do down after dinner.

In all i would highly recommend this hotel on Location, Welcoming staff, Really good breakfast ( continental, cooked, fresh fruits , yoghurts, pastries etc) and delicious evening meal over looking the sea in its glass fronted balcony dining room.

Trips that you must do-

Capri- pick up Amalfi pier by jet craft or boat 78 euro for 2. When there visit Ana-Capri, local bus takes you up there, cheaper than Capri itself, as it is full of expensive designer shops.

Rovello- stunning traditional village up in the hills . Catch a local bus up ther for just a couple of euros, but when the bus arrives at bus stop, run, as there is no queues .

Sorrento- would have prefered to have made our own way there by local bus, as we went there as part of a day trip, and found we only had 2 hours there . You really need a whole day. Local buses go from ever part of Island.

Hire a boat- We hired a boat from quayside in Amalfi for just 100 euro for day , driving it ourselves. they can take up to 6 persons. We travelled as far as Sorrento, and on way back moared in Positano for lunch. Just moar in harbour a boat picks you up and on your return you pay 10 euro to get taken back to your boat. On return to harbour (Almafi) you call your rep for boat and they take you to refuel boat (at your cost) . Just be ware that when they refuel they have zeroed the meter, as it was a little expensive in our opinion (53 euro`s) but we had such a fantastic day, the cost did not really matter.

Over-all experience of Amalfi is a really good time was had by us. Highly recommend.

The staff at reception very nice, welcoming . Giving us good ideas for days out.

The pool here is Sea water and was emptied a couple of times , just to repair a couple of tiles, but was always filled overnight. never was it dirty or empty. The sea , clean and clear .
