“Nice hotel close to citycenter”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

Friendly, cosy hotel close to both city center and ferries to Capri.
Experienced during work related stay. But although a memorable experience.
Recommend breakfast outdoor in the hillside overlooking city and the sea. Beautiful:-)

Room Tip: Order room directed opposite city.

Hotel was clean, close to center of town and the beach. Patio where we ate breakfast had a great view of the Med. Staff was friendly and helpful. After spending a little time in Positano, we were much happier that we stayed in Amalfi. A bit difficult to find; our GPS was not very useful. Parking was limited and expensive.

Room Tip: Back side did not have any view, looked out on hillside.

Good afternoon RichardP
Thanks for the positive comments and I am happy to see you enjoyed your visit to Hotel Aurora. Clarity of GPS and mobile phone signal are often poor in the Amalfi area as well as parking lots are limited and very expensive. Next time, please note we will offer you a special rate for parking your car when booked in advance.
Best regards.

The Aurora Hotel was a fabulous hotel to stay at, which we di for 3 nights in late Sept 2012, and should have stayed longer. The hotel is in a lovely location right by the beach and just out of the main drag. The views from our 3rd Floor Balcony Room were superb overlooking the beach and the whole Amalfi bay. The staff were first rtae (both Andrew and Andrea) as they were both extremely friendly and most helpful. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. All-in-all a lovely hotel with very good staff. I would highly recommend staying at the Aurora Hotel in Amafli on the Amalfi Coast.

We stayed at the Aurora hotel for 2 nights in Amalfi after coming from a visit to Positano. Amalfi is a slightly bigger town, so it was nice that this hotel was close enough to the fairy docks, yet far enough form the main square (and noise). We stayed on the top floor, with a large balcony that overlooked the marina.
The hotel is clean, and the service was pleasant. The decor may be a little outdated, but overall we had a good experience.

Room Tip: If you are willing to pay the extra bucks, a room on the top floor with private balcony is definitel...

This a queit and very well situated hotel in Amalfi. Only 5 minuted walk from the stown center. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious and very clean. Andrea and Andrew weer very helpful and gave us good directions to visit nearby places and restaurants. The breakfast was sumptuous. This was our first visit to the Amalfi coast and thanks to Andrea it was the best.

We spent three nights in a beautiful top floor room with a large balcony/ patio with a view of the Amalfi town center and harbor. The entire hotel was beautiful, well- kept and clean. The staff was friendly and mostly able to understand and converse in English. Enjoyed the fact that we were away from the center of town for noise reasons. Quite quiet. Breakfast was good and service again was good.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor with sea view and balcony

Readers of these reviews might think that I am nuts or lacking imagination/ or sense of adventure. Not true!
When you find a hotel which suits you perfectly you should stick to it. Particularly if the hotel – Aurora – just keeps on getting better on service and atmosphere. The staff and management continue to keep the standard high whilst introducing new things (this year it was WIFI). It is miraculous how Aurora keeps the same committed staff year after year (a sign of a happy place). This year I experienced that even if you have some mobility difficulties – nothing is a problem.
I continue to highly recommend Aurora to anyone visiting Amalfi. I have already booked for next summer!

Room Tip: get a room with a balcony or terrace!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Aurora Hotel is the perfect spot to spend an unforgettable holiday in Amalfi.Located nearby the Amalfi Marina, the hotel is only 500 meters from the hustle and bustle of Piazza Duomo. It is the ideal accommodation for visiting the Amalfi Coast and its picturesque villages, such as Ravello, Positano, Capri and even the Pompeii Excavation, which are all within easy reach. The bus station and the wharf are only 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel. After a long day-trip, Aurora Hotel is just a short walk to downtown and the beach, and it is accessible without climbing stairs. One final recommendation from the hotel management: if you want to spend a few relaxing days in Amalfi, please check Aurora Hotel location on Google Maps and compare it with other hotels. Most of Amalfi hotels are located in the noisy old Town, accessible by climbing long stairs; some others are located on the highway to Positano, so you will need to take the bus, a taxi or your car in order to reach the city, driving down one of the busiest roads in Italy! ... more   less
