“Excellent Location, Wonderful Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2012

This was our 2nd stay at The Aurora, and it won’t be our last!
Situated at the end of the promenade, on top of the beach and opposite the marina, the Aurora is a short stroll to the Piazza Duomo and countless excellent restaurants. Amalfi itself is a hub for visiting many other interesting places within half hour travelling by boat or bus, and the Aurora is a 3-4 minute walk to the dock and bus station.
The Aurora is a charming old hotel, well kept and with simple décor. For instance, our room & decor was all white apart from the floor tiles which were blue and yellow – a very Italian feel! The breakfast terrace is stunning. All parts of the hotel are spotlessly clean. Towles changed daily. The staff (especially Andrew, Andrea & Walter) are outstanding, so friendly and they can’t do enough for you. Tap into their local knowledge – they can tell you of places you wont find in the books! I would recommend this hotel without hesitation and will return. Simply put, I cannot fault it, which is why I give it full marks.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a superior room with terrace is a must - you wont find better views!

This is not your luxury 5 star hotel, but it's location, cleanliness and staff were wonderful. This was the first stop on our vacation and we couldn't have been more happy with it. The view from our terrace was breathtaking. Andrea, Andrea and Walter were very helpful with all our questions. The piazza was just within walking distance and was so lovely to just sit and relax. Watching the people and some wonderful musicians were our favorite. We had a great time shopping and eating in this area also.

Room Tip: We requested the sea view room, and it was perfect!!

We had a fantastic stay for 6 nights at the Aurora. Enjoyed spectacular views from our balcony and great breakfasts on the terrace.
Staff were wonderful and my wife and I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Amalfi. The rooms were spotlessly clean, large and very comfortable.
Mornington Australia.

Room Tip: Must select a seaview room, 3rd floor.

Location was just perfect. Peaceful area, no stairs (nice when moving with luggage), next to the harbour for ferries to Capri and Sorrento. Good buffet, especially if you like wheat products. Room is very basic but works well. Good service, reception staff offers useful restaurant and excursion suggestions.

Room Tip: take the balcony and seaview, upper floor

Loved our room with large balcony over looking the marina. We loved walking into town along the water. The hotel is especially convenient to the SITA bus and ferries and wonderful restaurants. It felt like we were staying in a warm family home as the staff were so personable and helpful!

Room Tip: Go for the balcony ... # 41 was fabulous!

This hotel has some glowing reviews from previous guests, but I think the ratings are a bit generous.

This property does have some very wonderful views, and the staff is pleasant. Our room was clean and well-kept, but on the over all, this property is aging. Everything from the reception, to the breakfast area, to the hallways, to the rooms needs to be updated. The furnishings are worn, and the fixtures are in need of replacement. The lack of water pressure in the shower meant it took ages to wash and rinse my long hair.

Our room was a standard European hotel room-sized, i.e. not generous with the space but manageable for the two of us. The balcony was quite large, so we did spend a fair amount of time enjoying that feature.

It's not that there's much bad about this hotel; it's just that there's not much that's exceptional about it, either. This is why I am unable to give it 5 stars - I feel that there should be something exceptional about a hotel for me to give it full marks. If we return to Amalfi we will be looking at other options in the area.

Dear Sir
Thank you to leave a review. The owners of Hotel Aurora run hotels since 1822 and of course they are aging! Property kept mirrors, chairs, writing boards, consolles, dressers of nineteenth century. Some of them are placed in the guest’s room s and many in the common areas. In superior rooms also tiled floors are handmade with decors, colours, and brightness no more in use nowadays. That’s Italy and we italians are very proud of our history, tradition and culture. Wherever you go in Italy you’ll find a memory of our past.
Best regards

A very comfortable hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Includes very generous rooms with large balconies/terrace with unobstructed views of the sea. Located adjacent to a small beach at the quiet end of the beach front boulvard. After 7 weeks travelling Europe, we rated this at the top of our hotel experiences, largely because of the location, room size and friendliness of staff.

Room Tip: Top floor sea facing room with terrace

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Aurora Hotel is the perfect spot to spend an unforgettable holiday in Amalfi.Located nearby the Amalfi Marina, the hotel is only 500 meters from the hustle and bustle of Piazza Duomo. It is the ideal accommodation for visiting the Amalfi Coast and its picturesque villages, such as Ravello, Positano, Capri and even the Pompeii Excavation, which are all within easy reach. The bus station and the wharf are only 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel. After a long day-trip, Aurora Hotel is just a short walk to downtown and the beach, and it is accessible without climbing stairs. One final recommendation from the hotel management: if you want to spend a few relaxing days in Amalfi, please check Aurora Hotel location on Google Maps and compare it with other hotels. Most of Amalfi hotels are located in the noisy old Town, accessible by climbing long stairs; some others are located on the highway to Positano, so you will need to take the bus, a taxi or your car in order to reach the city, driving down one of the busiest roads in Italy! ... more   less
