“Amalfi Vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2011

Very nice family run Hotel across the street from the water, just 5 minutes walk from the center of town. Not as chaotic as if you would be staying in the center of Amalfi. Room was very large with an outside balcony over looking the harbor. Had a pull out couch to accommodate additional people. Breakfast was OK as well as Dinner

Stayed 2 days in September 2011. Vicenzo was wonderful and welcomed us to our room which overlooked the marina. Just chilled in this beautiful area of Italy and enjoyed swimming across the road from the hotel on their sundeck platform. Balcony just great for sitting and having drinks and people watching. Loved it.

Room Tip: We had a superior room - they face the sea.

We stayed in Amalfi for a week in this lovely property. The location at the end of the harbor is perfect. The room was large and we had a terrace overlooking the water. The best part of the experience was the staff. They made great recommendation for restaurants and tours. The greeted us every time we came in. One of the staff has been there 45 years! With turn down service, this really should be a four star hotel. It was the best service we had in Italy. The breakfast is OK. Don't eat at the restaurant though, with so many great places in Amalfi we thought it was only so/so.

Room Tip: Make sure you request a room facing the water. The first floor rooms have the largest terraces.

We stayed here for 7 nights on a Page & Moy organised tour. The hotel is on a quiet road with its own bathing platform right on the marina. The main coast road is immediately behind & above the hotel and was occasionally noisy at night. The centre of Amalfi is just a 5 minute walk and buses & boat docks are even closer. Our 2nd floor room was dated but our balcony had great views of the town and constant boat action. Beds were very comfortable and maid service was faultless. Unusually the mini bar prices were reasonable, beer 3e, 1/2 bottle of wine 6e, juice 2e. We thought the room safe was a bit much at 3e per night. Breakfast was ok but there was just one toast machine and a tiny egg boiler for DIY use. You paid extra for omelettes. Dinner was also ok but choices ran out even when arriving at 8pm (service until 9)Service was good though and the staff were pleasant. Overall we were happy with hotel.

Room Tip: We liked our room no. 235

Location is excellent: right next to the water and very close to the old town of Amalfi.
We stayed in the prestige room for 200 euros per night. Although the room was clean, the decor was very dated and we felt the room was not worth the price. We were given a so-so room at first and asked to change. We were accomodated though.
The hotel is advertising that it is a 4 star hotel but the rating (and the price) should be revised to a 3 star. The staff at the reception were not friendly and did not exhibit the diligence that one would expect from a 4 star hotel. The breakfast was very limited. Also, lots of bus tours seemed to stop there which is also not a sign that this is a 4 star hotel.

We stayed here for a week in May 2011 in a "standard" grade room on the first floor (USA; second floor). The location is fantastic, right next to the centre of Amalfi, close to buses and ferries. We ate in the restaurant every night, and were very happy with the food and the attentive service (other reviewers don't like the food, but we found it to be of very good quality and reasonably priced). Our room opened on to a small private sun-terrace with chairs and tables, which was lovely for sitting and relaxing, with a great view. The standard of cleanliness seemed to be good. However, the room itself was very small for two people, and got rather cluttered with all our things. The worst feature was the shower, which was absolutely tiny: so tiny that taking a shower was actually quite difficult (bending down to pick anything up off the floor was difficult due to lack of space!). I feel they could easily remove the bidet and install a larger shower instead - an overweight person would not have been able to use that shower at all.

Also, they charge extra for every little thing, such as 2 euros for 30 minutes of access to the wi-fi Internet (which is exensive) and it's only available in the public areas.

Room Tip: Ensure your room is better than standard grade
