“A wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2012

We spent four nights in this fantastic hotel and I wish it could have been more. Travelling with friends, we had adjacent rooms (45 & 46), both stunning, perched on the cliff-side amongst beautiful gardens with magnificent views of Amalfi and the Bay of Naples.

The hotel staff were, without exception, courteous and efficient and made us feel so welcomed. The hotel is a great place to explore with a treasure trove of artefacts and vistas to discover.

Our rooms were huge, immaculately clean with an enormous comfy bed and all the top quality amenities you could think of (perhaps with the exception of tea & coffee facilities).

Breakfast, served on the terrace of the main building was superb - definitely something to linger over.

It's a 10 minute stroll down into town, a little longer on the return after an evenings indulgences!

If top-end comfort is your style, then this hotel will not disappoint - simply the best.

You can't escape the views of the Mediterranean in this hotel - they're everywhere. The staff here is attentive, knowledgeable, and kind. You couldn't ask for better service. Upon arrival we were given a bottle of prosecco and our bags were taken to our rooms. Our room was bright and airy, with a gorgeous view of the sea. I wish I was there now!
On our first night in Amalfi, we took a nap and woke up at 11pm, past dinner time. Everything seemed to be closed, but the staff arranged an amazing dinner nearby. The next evening, we ate dinner at the hotel's elegant restaurant, overlooking the sea. My spaghetti ai frutti di mare was amazing, and best of all, it was gluten-free! My husband loved his food too. The restaurant is highly recommended.
The breakfast was delicious and varied. This is the only hotel I've ever been to that puts out gluten-free biscuits at breakfast, which is worth a million points. The view of the sea is worth another million points.
I find it really hard to say anything bad about this hotel. I wish it was just a little warmer so that we could have gone swimming, but there's always next time. Gorgeous location, loved the driving (not for the faint-hearted!), and excellent service. Just about perfect.

What a pleasure to stay at this fine hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, the accommodations perfect, the dining experience excellent, and overall a feeling of being taken care of in a luxurious, beautiful hotel. Our room had a view down the Amalfi Coast to the city of Amalfi. The windows open to fresh air and these exquisite views. A sumptuous breakfast buffet with cappuccino and omelets made to order. If desired, we talk elevators to the sea level where there is a salt water pool (some chlorine), fitness facility with trainer, locker rooms, and a dining room for lunch. There is also a complementary van service to town. Check out Eolo Restaurant if you go. We also took a tour of the town with Michelangelo. Overall, the experience was inspiring and we look forward to our return.

Room Tip: 37 is a corner room with three balconies, great views ... perfect.

I am a new travel agent and I found Santa Caterina absolutely fantastic. I will happily book anyone into this hotel. From the moment you arrive, you find parking a breeze, great attention, the lobby filled with the wonderful aroma of the multitude of fresh flower arrangements. Following the kind attention and thoughtfulness of Andrew, we had the room of our lives with three balconies opening on marvelous coastal and town and deep sea views, a plate of cookies and fresh fruit and a gorgeous arrangement of cut flowers awaiting in the room. The piano at dinner is superb, truly great music, the gym is possibly the most wonderful of my lifetime, with three big openable windows on the ocean, a trainer available for private sessions at no extra charge six days a week, a beautiful seaside area, so you will have every possible environment, the ocean, the town, the waves. If you are not already royalty, staying in the marvelous hotel, you will feel like you are king and queen. Breakfast is in such a beautiful setting and a very expansive and delightful buffet...Dinner could be a bit improved, the chicken we had was so tough it would not be cut with a knife, and the gentleman who served us, upon noticing I was not eating it, said that the chicken was too young and, yet, did not offer an alternative. Apart from that disappointment, the service was impeccable and the dining room staff simply wonderful. The many people working at this hotel are truly wonderful and clearly proud of this exquisite establishment. There are so many subtle touches, the elevator is lined with beautiful wood, the plates are wonderfully bright and artistic, there is a delightful fire place with a cozy fire in the evening, art everywhere, just a beautiful hotel. We feel extremely fortunate to have had the pleasure of staying at the Santa Caterina Hotel! We hope to return again and again.

I stayed at the hotel at the begining of April 2012 for a week - it was "out of this world". Nothing was too much trouble, staff were extremely helpful. The food was excellent although rather expensive. Fortunatley the weather was very good and the pool area is beautifully kept and staff wonderful. The Maitre D'hotel - Pino Francese is an absolutely charming gentlemen, so welcoming and full of knowledge. A wonderful experience of luxury and relaxation.

If travelling by air and you need transport for the hotel contact Anthony Buonocore at www.amalfitransfer.com - he is a delightful man and offers a first class service and gives you a beautiful journey around the winding roads.

A gorgeous family run hotel with spectacular views. Not modern glamour, but beautiful Italian antique styling. Fabulous breakfast overlooking the ocean, and a short stroll into the village. Helpful staff. Only thing is the onsite restaurant is super expensive. But otherwise a wonderful hotel and would happily stay hear again.

We are a young couple looking for a romantic place to stay on Amalfi Coast and found this place to be extremely convenient, comfortable and friendly. I want to first off say we have a car in the area and we needed to look for a place where we don't need to have significant trouble parking and then more trouble walking from where we park to the place we live (and for this, we ruled out many places in Positano, which are crowded and quite annoying needing 100-200 meter uphill/downhill to the hotel - but we speak for ourselves as we literally wanted to walk out of the car and immediately into the hotel room and lie on the bed after a long day out). And we found Amalfi to be a very convenient base, especially because we love food and, Cetara and Atrani (which incidentally have a few restaurants where we had the best meals of the entire trip) are just around the corner. And this hotel is close enough to Amalfi for easy access and far enough to make you feel you are at a quiet corner (they have a free shuttle in any case to take you to Amalfi - literally 1-2 minute away).

In terms of service, it's top notch. The staff is friendly and eager to help and they make you feel very much at home. The bar area with the sofas are lit up at night and there are a couple occasions we came back at 11:30pm, and we ordered some dessert wine and wound down at one of the white sofas reviewing the photos we took from the day. And the bar waiter was kind enough to let me sample different dessert wines, brought over biscuits and then left us alone to enjoy the moment.

Room-wise, we went for a deluxe room (Room 12) facing the sea with a large balcony, and it was just a joy waking up in the morning, opening the balcony door and looking out to the blue sea and directly beneath is the hotel's small garden (which is nice to look at). The room was immaculate and clean, although I would say the furnishing was a bit dated but that doesn't really detract from the experience.

We only had breakfast there, but it was very nice sitting in the terrace, looking out the ocean and eating the delicious breakfast - food quality was pretty good (but of course doesn't compare to the organic breakfast we had at Don Alfonso!). And their home-made pastry was excellent, I am missing those pastries now!

We didn't use the pool as we were there over Easter 2012. We moved to another hotel in Praiano after two nights, but wished we had stayed here for another night.
