we arrived in rome after an exhausting overnight flight with no sleep, I was a bit skeptical about the private tours that my sister had arranged, worried about guides showing up, etc. would domenico's private tours be ok?
our cares were instantly forgotten when we were met by guiseppi (spelling) at the rome airport. what a day! he was just delightful, took us all around. we toured the catacombs, went out to the pope's summer home by the lake, had lunch at a great place with a beautiful view, and ended the day at donnardea winery. the next day we were picked up by luca. he was young, fun, and we had another great day. domenico arranged a guide (Francesca?) for us at the coliseum and the roman forum. we were picked up by luca for a quick lunch at a little square and onto the Spanish steps and the trevi fountain and the pantheon and drove up to a hill overlooking the city.
the next day guiseppi took us the Vatican city where we were met by another guide and then off to civtavecchia to our ship. domenico met us the next day in naples and off we went to the charming town of Sorrento. we then drove along the amalfi coast higher and higher. he arranged lunch for us at tattoria tagliata in positano. do not miss this place! the view and food were spectacular and we will never forget this meal. we then headed to Pompeii where our guide tonya took us on a very informative tour. afterward we headed back to naples and stopped at the museo cappella sanservo, another must see. then back to the ship.
domenico's entire staff was just wonderful. we had so much fun, learned so much, had great conversations, great food, and personal attention. if you want to do it right, chose domenico's private tours, you'll be glad you did. absolutely the best!!!
