“Very welcoming and meticulously ran”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012 via mobile

Very good hotel with shared pool that costs 8 euros each. Pool is 5 minute drive away. Car laid on by hotel takes you. Breakfast can become monotonous (Parma ham and cheese croissants but fabulous coffee and home made juices with fruit from the hotel garden) the hotel is very anal about parking between the lines and you can guarantee that someone will come charging out to reprimand you if you don't. Balconies in better rooms get covered in debry from flower baskets on roof. The rooms look great with the sun loungers but you don't feel comfortable using them because you feel on edge that housekeeping want you out to clean the room. There are no do not disturb signs because they like to clean every day. Reception area always empty staff always straightening cushions doesn't seem like you would be welcome to sit there. Really impressed with Antonio lovely man who makes you feel at ease. Overall hotel felt like you were still living at home with a neat freak Mum but it was very comfortable and clean with lots of reasonable rules to keep it that way. We would go back though strangely enough! Just make the breakfast a bit more varied so it doesn't become boring.

I was in Amalfi back in May 2012 and once again in September, both times I stayed at The Hotel Bellevue Suite. The owner Tomas and his son always make our visit feel like we are with family. The second day I was in Amalfi my wife felt ill and Tomas drove us to an emergency room near Ravello. He stayed with us the whole time we were there and translated all of our concerns to the Doctor on staff. The next night Tomas called us down for some home made soup he had prepared for my wife and these are the reasons I always stay at this hotel. He even wanted to take the prescriptions to the pharmacy in the morning. I will return to the Amalfi Coast again next year and I look forward to staying at the Hotel Bellevue Suite once again. One thing to add about the hotel is that all of the rooms have beautiful balconies and the rooms that face the ocean are spectacular.

Room Tip: Get a room that overlooks the ocean.

What a wonderful location and spectacular views. The owners take pride in their establishment and very accommodating. Anything you need just ask. It was like staying with family! You feel right at home. Taxis booked through them are at very reasonable prices. I highly recommend this hotel. Gracie for a wonderful time!

The Bellevue in Amalfi is a short, scenic, ten minute walk from downtown Amalfi. It is located in a prime spot with great views of the Amalfi Coast and the Gulf of Salerno. Kim Kardashian stayed right down the street in one of the more ritzy spots for her honey moon during her short failed marriage. The amenities are very nice, the hotel is well kept, and breakfast is good in the mornings. The owner did seem grumpy, as other reviewers have noted, and he is somewhat controlling. Though there are rules about food and drink in the rooms, they had no issue with us taking beer or wine we bought from them to the room. They do have a private car service that you can utilize to get back to the train station or other spots such as Positano for a good price. Overall, the place has a great location, stunning views, and puts you right in the middle of a magical part of Italy for a good value.

Room Tip: Get a room at least on floor up with a view of the Coast. Watch yourself on the roads, either walkin...

I don't ever recall staying in a hotel and being told what I can and can't do in my own room that we've paid to stay in. That was until staying here.

Stayed here as part of our honeymoon in May, the owner (as other people have stated) was creepy and I caught checking out my wife a few times. I let it go, no point getting upset over that, esp while we were guests and didn't want to risk anything being taken from our rooms. The hotel has numerous rules that contradict themselves to stop guests bringing in their own food and drink, one reason was because it brings in an influx of ants, another was because festivities go on too late and can get rowdy which bother other guests, but then go on to say that food and drink can be purchased from the hotel to consume in the room and that breakfast can be ordered to the room.

The room itself was large (we stayed in one of the suites) with a sofa and a balcony overlooking the water and partial view of Amalfi.

One thing that REALLY bothered us however was there was a window in the side of the room with blinds that did not shut without being held shut by something (I ended up using my suitcase to hold them shut). The MAJOR issue with this was that directly outside the room there was an unlit outside stairwell that had a direct view of anyone coming in or out of the bathroom. This was a massive invasion of our privacy.

The bathroom really was nothing special at all, the soap in the wash basin and shower being soap dispensers and there was mould growing above the shower.

Not one to be put off by the contradictory rules, the creepy hotel manager or the invasion of privacy we enjoyed quite a few drinks on the balcony and left the bottles and cans in the bin in the room when we checked out, our little way of flicking the bird to them.

Avoid at all costs.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.
