The food is good, atmosphere is lovely and you don't have to pay for "coperto".... try the grilled smoked mozzarella in lemon leaves..yumm!! or the baba with wild strawberries...

“Aggressive waiters pimping gullible tourists”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

There's really not much to recommend this place when there are so many much better options.

Standard fare, supposedly "home-made" pasta that certainly didn't taste that way. Bland bland bland boring and forgettable.

The aggressive to the point of rude waiters (who seem to think they're being friendly) complete the picture of a tourist trap you're best to avoid if you're looking for a good meal.

On the plus side, the setting in the little square is pleasant, and it's a great place to people-watch, even if all the people you're watching are tourists. The house wine at 9 euros a bottle is in fact drinkable, which will help you forget the food.

“Best of the Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013 via mobile

I've spent a week on the Amalfi coast and can't pry myself away from this excellent Italian Restaurant. The atmosphere is fun and lively. I believe it's family run, so there's a lot of emphasis on quality and customer service. I will return to Amalfi for the scenic beauty and this impressive Trattoria da Barracca!

“Fun Atmosphere at a Family Owned Restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

We loved the location and the service at Da Baracca. Da Baracca doesn't have waterfront views, but it is nestled away in an adorable little piazza in Amalfi, about a block from the beach. While we ate, we were serenaded by a band on the piazza for about 15 minutes. Although the band did request tips before moving on (and tried us sell us one of their CDs), their presence and the live music definitely added to the festive feel of the evening. The service was warm, but not overbearing. However, my husband and I were not entirely impressed with the food. The menu (available in several languages) offered many selections and we decided upon an octopus salad as an appetizer and gnocchi pomodoro and veal scallopini in a lemon sauce as entrees. A bottle of house wine completed the meal.

My husband enjoyed the octopus, but I thought it had an unusually strong fishy flavor, as if perhaps it was a day or two past ideal freshness. The veal was simple, but tasty, especially in the sauce made from fresh lemons. Unfortunately, the gnocchi didn't live up to our expectations. It had a bit of a gummy quality and did not seem like it was homemade. To be fair, we eat out a lot and have pretty high food standards. Although we definitely had an enjoyable evening at Da Baracca, if we were in Amalfi again, we probably would try another place next time.
