“The perfect romantic getaway!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2011

My wife and I carefully selected this place to celebrate our 20th anniversary. With a balcony on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, it could not have been more romantic. The room was very quaintly appointed and spotless. Valentina and Rafaella couldn't have been nicer to us. We will definitely be back!

My wife and I stayed at the hotel in September 2011. The staff is excellent - very polite and helpful - you are treated like a king). You, in fact, feel like you are staying at your own private villa. It is quiet, relatively small and cozy. Though our room was not facing the sea, it was still a great experience - clean, nice and exactly what we needed. The only downside is the breakfast, which, if they improved it and threw in some fruit and cold cuts (which they could easily do), would make for a 5+ experience.
A very nice beach is right under the hotel. However, the hotel is on the large rock (like everything in this part of Italy). So you have to go down some 600 (or 500 steps) - if you want to climb up - beware, we are relatively young and in good shape, but we had to stop 3 times to catch our breath (and we would not recommend doing it more than once a day). Your option is to use the services of a nearby hotel, which allows you to use their elevator up and down unlimited number of times for 15 euro a day per person. You can have lunch at the beach, too. And get sunbeds with umbrellas for 15 euro a day per 2 people.
There's a boat stopping by the beach every half hour - you can go to Amalfi for 2 euro instead of climbing up the stairs.
In terms of walking to Amalfi by foot from the hotel. I was really surprised to read that it is a 15 or even 10 minute walk. Again, we are in good shape, but it is a good 20-25 minute walk - and you can't have dinner in the vicinity of Villa Maria Luigia - you'll have to look for another hotel or go down to Amalfi.
Taking a public bus, which stops every hour or so, from the hotel to Amalfi is an option, but it is about 2 euro per person per trip, which adds up.
Again, if you have arrived to Amalfi by bus - and you have heavy bags - I recommend taking a cab to the hotel (15 euro), ditto - when you leave the hotel.
Having said that, it was an excellent experience due to a wonderful beach, excellent and friendly service and nice rooms.

Room Tip: If you are mobility impaired or not fit - look for a closer hotel to Amalfi.

Loved this little hotel, the staff were so helpful and friendly. The hotel was really clean with good sized rooms and a nice sized bathroom. The views were fantastic and i would have expected to pay more than they were charging, they also had their own secure parking.Loved this little place.

We were desperate to find accommodation for one night in Amalfi, as everything was booked up. We find the Villa through the internet. Prices were reasonable for the Amalfi coast. After we had a confirmation of the price, we saw on the internet that there was an offer for the night we stayed in, and they lowered the fee as per their website info. It was clean, lovely view to the coast, breakfast was the best we had in this trip to Italy, staff was very friendly and helpful. Excellent place to stay

Room Tip: ask for view to the coast rooms

This bed in breakfast is truly a hidden gem in the Amalfi Coast. The view from their balconies over the water is breathtaking! It is pristinely clean and beautiful tile throughout. The staff of Raffella, Valentina and Alfonso were so friendly and helpful. It is very reasonably priced and well exceeds in value. I highly recommend this B & B.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the water. You will be amazed by the view everyday!

We loved staying at this hotel in Amalfi! The place was beautifully decorated and clean. The only critisim was the shower drain was clogged. which we were told would be fixed. The place was away from the noise from the tour buses in Amalfi, but within walking distance from the shops. The breakfasts were good. I especially loved the large croissants, peach juice and cappuccino for breakfast. The staff was extremely helpful. The view from the hotel knocked your socks off view. We ate breakfast on the partially covered porches facing the water, which was gorgeous.

If you're traveling to Amalfi, I highly recommend staying at the Villa Maria Luigia - You will not be disappointed!! The staff is very pleasant and accommodating... The hotel is very beautiful and very clean, with wonderful views of the mediterranean from their wonderful terrace where we had breakfast and 'happy hour' daily. The Villa is a short walk to town which allows for quiet accommodations, while getting a little exercise in each day (though bus service is certainly available if you'd rather not walk)
I will absolutely stay here again upon my next visit!

Its position allows you to reach the historic centre quickly but offers peace and quiet when you want to relax.
