“Tapas Heaven!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

Keep it Comin'!
This lively spot has all the best things about a smaller city like Valencia has to offer. Absolutely AMAZING TAPAS, wonderful selections of Spaniard wines (I always suggest local or Sherries from Jerez in Spain) and it is in the heart of the old Carmen area. Very very local place. I came here to spend "Fallas" with my wonderful boyfriend. This place is close to everything! The service was fast and very informative even if the Spaniard accent is a little rough on the "th"s my Colombian ears. The plates are perfect for sharing and of COURSE, as I live to eat, my wise boyfriend echoed by the lovely server, reeled me in from the edge of food comatose and cut me off at 7 tapas. I was starving! Each plate was better than the other and you can feast like a KING!
If you can find it Please go here!

“Helpful, Hospitable, and Delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

They advertise 70 different types of tapas but we could only sample 7 or 8 including chicken scallop pie, stuffed yellow peppers, and the highlight which was blood sausage in a crispy philo pastry drizzled with dark chocolate. We had to order many helpings of the sausage as one order was not enough for the four of us. But at €1.50 per order one can well afford to indulge. The owners spoke little English but were very anxious to accommodate when we announced that one of our guests had a fish allergy. There was a crab dish we ordered and when we wanted to make sure it wasn't re-constituted crab made with fish we spoke to them in our broken Spanish, they disappeared, and returned after some minutes with the original packaging for the crab!
Now that's service!!
At the end of the meal they plunked a bottle of Muscatel, the sweet after dinner desert wine, on our table with instructions to drink as many shots as we wished (one was our limit) as their guests.
This was such a nice place to eat we returned another afternoon for their Fidua (think paella with noodles instead of rice) with ham and sausage. So delicious there wasn't a noodle left when we finished. Once again the obligatory shot of Muscatel and we staggered home, the world a better place.
Highly Reccommended.

“Unimpressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Didn't really enjoy this restaurant at all. Service was very average and the restaurant generally lacked atmosphere. The dishes we chose didn't really inspire although perhaps that was down to our choices. They did have a very large group of diners in the back room the night we went there and so perhaps that took their eye off the ball.

“relaxed setting with terrace, family owned restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

If you want good authentic tapas (although sometimes with a new twist to it) , Las cuevas is the place to go. The service is good, they will invite you for some dessertwine (mistella) after your meal.

“Good, relaxed setting, with a peaceful terrace close to the Cathedral”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

We really do recommend this restaurant not only for its excellent, genuine tapas dishes but for the quality of the service and great value-for-money. To get to the terrace, you go round the back to the Plaza Cisneros which is a peaceful backwater off the tourist circuit yet right in the heart of the city by the Cathedral and it is frequented by many locals. In August, we found that the city was quite plagued by over-persistent flies, which takes the edge off al fresco dining but here, large candles containing an insect repellent kept these beasts well away. We paid only 16 euros per person, including wine, water and an aperitif.
