I had the opportunity to assist a couple of performances (la Traviata, Die Walkuere conducted by Zubin Mehta) at this great modern building over a weekend. The Opera is indeed worth a visit inside and outside. The performances were of average quality after all this is a secondary city in Spain. Calatrava did a great job; the acoustics were superb. A couple of drawbacks, rather bad signage of how to reach the entrance to the Opera on arrival and no english subtitles for the performances (subtitles only in Castillan Spanish and the local Catalan dialect).
