Where on earth do I begin?! This is worth the read, trust me! You won't regret it!
The first day we arrived we were not informed in any way that we had to phone the owner one hour before arrival. So once we finally found (a tiny 'B&B' sticker on a tiny buzzer on an unmarked door) the B&B at 1pm unknowingly, we were let in by the cleaner and asked if we could check in. She said the owner wasn't here yet. We waited around for a few seconds and she suggested we call him, but she didn't inform us we had to do this in order to check in. Her English was minimal so I don't blame her for anything; she was as friendly as she possibly could have been given her language skills.
So we went away, after leaving our suitcases in the B&B, and arrived an hour later at 2pm when check-in began. We rang the door bell. No answer. We went away and returned half an hour later. No answer. So we rang the owner and he said we should have phoned in advance to tell him when we'll be arriving. We were not informed of this when we booked the place.
So that was the first dilemma.
Once the owner finally arrived, 15 minutes later than he mentioned he would be, he let us in. He said that the final night of our stay we will have to move out of our room and move in to an apartment down the road. He didn't tell us why and we were not told this in advance. He said he would meet us at 2pm on our final full day to help us move. We didn't question this and just agreed (stupidly).
So he left, we got our keys and opened the door. We had booked the deluxe room, and the deluxe room WE DID NOT GET. We had a tiny box room right next to the entrance so we could hear all the noisy people coming in and out of the b&b, banging constantly. I was NOT happy at this. We had paid extra for the deluxe room and we didn't even end up staying in the deluxe room!! And then our final night we were turfed out into some other building!! Which we were not told about!! TOTAL INCONVENIENCE.
So before the finale, the corridor constantly stunk of faeces, the wi-fi was rubbish (which we needed for work purposes), the fruit and biscuits were not replenished every day, and there were no herbal teas and/or "mediterranean breakfast & spa facilities". Thankfully, the ladies who worked at the cafe where breakfast was held were a complete delight! So friendly, great coffee, great home-made orange juice. We left then a big tip, because they deserved it!
So here we go, this is the 'best' part!
We woke up on our final full day with a complete day planned ahead. Then we received a text from the owner saying he no longer wanted to meet at 2pm, but 3.30pm instead. So our day had to be re-planned. We were worried we would miss him so arrived back at the B&B slightly earlier at 2.30pm. We stayed inside our room but with the door open so we could hear/see anybody coming in or out. So 3.30pm arrived… no sign of the owner. 3.45pm… still no sign. So at 3.50pm we headed downstairs in the lift to wait at the entrance of the building. Still no sign of him. 4pm arrived and here he comes, waltzing down the stairs with a smile on his face! I greeted him saying I was very angry. He didn't seem to care. He replied with "I said 3.30 and you were not here". Does he think we're that stupid?!?!?!!? We'd been waiting an hour and a half for him!
So after attempting to keep my cool (which didn't work), he told us where we'd be staying. He spoke the name of the street, he didn't write it, he spoke it and said he'd meet us there because he has to get the key and he came on his moped (he couldn't be bothered to show us on foot because he was lazy). At this point he'd taken the key for the B&B off us and told us this new place was "the third street on the right". So we went to the third street on the right… he wasn't there. We went to the first street on the right and the third street on the right down there… he wasn't there. We went to the third street on the right down the third street on the right.. he wasn't there either. I was in tears at this point. I thought he had left us stranded. All because he didn't want to leave his moped alone in one of the safest cities in the world and couldn't be bothered to show us on foot where the apartment was. This would have taken 5 minutes, instead it wasted another hour.
He text asking where were we because he was waiting! (WHO IS HE KIDDING!?!?!) We said he was nowhere to be seen! So he text the street name and we just carried on walking. We eventually came to the street… which was the fifth street on the right, down the very bottom around a bend!! He said that it was the third or fourth because one of the streets wasn't a street (it was a street..) it was a road and a roundabout in Valencia. I said that we are not from Valencia, we are in a foreign city and we do not know where we are, never mind what streets to go down! We had no map, no nothing.
So we went to a less nicer street than what the b&b was on, went through a tiny door, up a couple of flights of the smallest, most claustrophobic staircase ever, into an apartment. It was dingy, had no natural light, was cold, had no duvet; just thin sheets (so was freezing at night!), had thee most uncomfortable bed known the man, no hot running water, a dvd player but no tv, and sugar and salt but no coffee or tea. He made out that we was doing us a favour by letting us stay in this apartment, which we knew nothing about, only 2 days earlier. He ruined the final part of our trip to Valencia. We were there for three nights, and nothing about this booking was correct. TOTALLY MISLEADING. We wasted four hours in total, four hours of our final day which we could have spent in the beautiful city, exploring the sights!
We did not deserve this treatment!! Realistically, I believe we should be refunded for the final night of our stay (at least! especially after paying for the deluxe room which we did not get, instead we caught a glimpse of it when the cleaner left the door open at the end of the corridor). I doubt the greedy owner would ever think of refunding us 40€ though.
IF YOU WANT TO RISK BEING DOWNGRADED AND THEN SHIPPED OFF TO SOME DINGY APARTMENT HALF WAY THROUGH YOUR STAY WITHOUT BEING INFORMED IN ADVANCE, AND RECEIVE THE COLDEST WELCOME FROM THE RUDEST, LAZIEST SPANIARD EVER, THEN FEEL FREE TO BOOK HERE!
I would rather sleep on the beach than have to deal with this man and this B&B again.
DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND! I really can't understand why this place has such good reviews! I was excited to stay here, and have never been more disappointed in anything in my life EVER!!!!
Do not stay here, don't waste your money!
