“City hotel with reasonably good rooms and quite well located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

We stayed here for a Saturday night in mid-November, while in the area for a local sporting event. The hotel is relatively easy to find on the main road from the centre down to the port.

Reception was efficient and cordial enough, even if rather business-like. The bedroom allocated was on the top floor at the end of the corridor and had a cot, not needed, although it had the double bed preferred after reminding the staff when booking in. It was quite spacious and presentable, and perhaps slightly utilitarian in feel.

Breakfast very good indeed - great range and good coffee machine, freshly squeezed natural orange juice, etc - only suggestion is bacon too fatty, and couldn't the tray be drained of the excess oil?!

Good value for the deal we booked via Vivastay.

ATTENTION - local road parking controlled by "gorillas" who extort a tip when you park, we gave them €1 on parking so they "look after" (= don't damage) your car, and *nothing* when leaving when we went next day before the scum managed to arrive, patrolling the top of the street towards the hotel, but nonetheless came running over when he heard the engine starting. We had approached form a different direction and without suitcases clicking on the pavement! Tried to block us form manoeuvring away, but we escaped without incident. Next time I would actively consider the hotel parking even though it costs more.

GOOD POINTS

Big bed
Clean, modern bathroom
Range of different types of pillow available, according to "pillow menu" in room info
Good blackout curtains - 8.30a.m. on a sunny morning and it was black as midnight inside the room - good sleep quality from these (although see note about mattress).

NOT SO GOOD POINTS

Hard mattress - not at all luxurious
No bidet in bathroom
TV old - quite chunky, perhaps 2005-2006 vintage (see photo)
Air-con / heating not working (see other reviews) although not important this w/e, as the room was a good temperature.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Room Tip: We had a high floor (top floor - the 6th) and so were away from road noise.

Looks new, service is friendly and helpful. Specially apreciated was the Maitre d'Diana, always with a wide smile and helpful to us at the restaurant of the hotel.
Bedrooms are confortable and they have a big mirror! which is becoming less frequent in Spain. Even the rooms to the street are quiet and well isolated.

Room Tip: I recomend getting rooms on high floors as many times there are late events at the ground floor that...

Only about a 7 minute walk from the nearest metro, this hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff were helpful and friendly. I had no concerns with the location of the hotel, it was a good base from which to explore Valencia. The area felt safe as did everywhere I travelled, day or night in Valencia. The hotel does look stylish from the outside and is no let down within. The air conditioned rooms were a welcome relief from the 26•c nights! With free wi fi to boot I would stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights on a city break to Valencia. It was amazing value and a lot cheaper than any other 4 star hotel in or around the city. The hotel looks lovely from the outside, especially at night, and the inside is of a high standard. Check in was quick and the staff were very friendly and all spoke English. The room was lovely although not the greatest view. It was spotless with everything you need inc toiletries that were replenished daily. Free WiFi was a god send too. Only minor downside is that you have to walk for about 30 mins to city centre or catch the metro and slightly further to the beach. All do-able though if you like walking. The whole city seems very safe wherever we went and whatever time of day or night! Some lovely restaurants and cake shops around the hotel and a supermarket.

Its a 800 meter walk to the best shopping streets in Valencia..its close to the "green lung"in Valencia... So don't forget to pack your running shoes.

The surrounding area is a little boring - but the hotel is clean, and the beds good (rock hard, buti like that)

Skip the breakfast though - its not worth the money

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

I spent some days in Valencia with friends and we decided to book two double rooms at Silken Puerta Valencia as it was one of the cheapest four-stars hotels we have found online.

The hotel is, in fact, very cheap and I think this is due to its location: outside the city center in a everything but touristic area. On the other side, the hotel is very easy to reach from the airport: just take the metro line 5, stop "Aragon" and within a 10 minute walk you are done.

Receptionist were helpful and friendly, one of them also speaks Italian (my mother tongue). Rooms are enough big for a four stars hotel, the furniture was modern and practical. One of the two rooms had a strange smell the first day but it disappeared after one night. The bathroom was spacious, fitted with bathtub/shower and with a nice amenity kit.

I don't have any advice about breakfast: our reservation didn't included it by our choice as we thought it was too much expensive.

Within 10/15 minutes walk you can reach both the City of Arts and Sciences and the historic center of Valencia. We haven't tried but, near the hotel, there is also a "Valenbisi" bike sharing station where you can rent a bicycle.

Cons:
* we were running out of toilet paper as maids forgot to refill the two-rolls toilet paper dispenser
* the bathroom was spacious, but the right side of toilet bowl was too much near the wall and consequently my right leg was every time against the wall
* rooms are not completely sound proofed: walls are okay, doors not so much. if your neighbors are noisy you can be badly affected (luckily, this not happened to me)
* this hotel has a conference hall that can be use for wedding parties and similar events

I booked this hotel for a short family break in Valencia as it was walking distance from the City of Arts and Sciences and not too far from the city centre. It is close to a metro station but we didn't need it. The hotel itself is very modern and the fixtures and fittings are of excellent quality. The staff were very helpful and the room was cleaned and replenished with the superb 'bathroom kit' every day. Breakfast was great and there was more than enough choice. I would definitely recommend it.
