“Good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

I just got back from a week's stay at the Tryp Oceanic hotel in Valencia. The hotel had a nice modern look and had two outside elevators, from which you had a nice view over parts of the City of Arts and Sciences.

We stayed in a family room on the 9th floor, which did not had the best of views. The room itself was quite nice though. One of my friends slept in a double bed, while me and another friend slept in bunk beds. The double bed as well as the bunk beds were comfortable. The bathroom was nice and clean and had a heated mirror and infrared lamp. The hotel also has an outside pool, which was one of the reasons why we booked this hotel in the first place. However, we never even used the pool, since the beach was nearby.

The staff were always friendly and helpful. The staff at the reception desk spoke English which was a blessing. Elsewhere in Valencia, a lot of people only speak Spanish, which often meant we had to explain ourselves using signs. It helps sometimes to speak French, as this better understood than English it seemed.

The breakfast was ok and there was plenty of choice. On the other hand, the bacon was never crispy enough and the croissants were really sticky, but that's just hair-splitting. During the weekend the breakfast was very crowded, so it's best to go early enough.

If you want to visit the city, I can suggest renting bikes. At the backside of the hotel, there is a bike rental (I think it's called solution bikes) where you can rent a bike for €40 a week €10 for a day. It's a bit more expensive than some other bike rentals in the old city centre, but it's close to the hotel and the guy who's in charge was always really friendly and helpful.

The location of the hotel was perfect for visiting the City of Arts and Sciences and the beach, but less interesting for visiting the old city. Like I said everything is quite easy to reach by bike. We never used public transport, so I can't comment on that.

All in all, the hotel was good and I think it is one of the better places to stay in Valencia. We did have some small remarks, but these were always quickly dealt with.

Located in a new modern neighborhood. You can walk to the beautiful buildings of the architect Calatrava (Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències). The neighborhood is quiet at night which means no noise but also that you have to go to the city center for a good night.

The staff was friendly and the room nice although not so clean, we found a toenail that wasn't ours...
The pool chairs were uncomfortable too and apart from these two disadvantages it is a good hotel.

For those who want to spend a couple of days at the extraordinary Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias – and we could’ve easily spent an entire week there – the location of this Tryp is ideal. We also appreciated the friendliness of the staff, who allowed us to store our luggage for a full day before we even checked in for an excursion down the coast.

The room size was fine for the chain with an added very nice gesture of a bottle of cava champagne as a birthday present. If you don’t get a room on a higher floor (we didn’t), then go up to the top for a view from the rooftop terrace – where the gym is located. The ride in the glass enclosed elevator is a treat in itself.

One big disappointment was the quality of the mattress – we were told that other guests had also complained, but apparently to no avail. And the breakfast buffet was average, but we’re going to start basing our choice of places to stay at those places that do not offer buffets since the apparent waste of so much food is sickening. Why don’t hotels simply change to continental buffets with cereals and coffee / tea stations and offer one hot item and fruit by the order? And ALL hotels in Valencia should invest in a horchata machine to provide this delicious refreshing and healthy local beverage.

We got a special deal on our room rate, but it seems the competition and the number of hotels in the area guarantee reasonable rates.

Just had a long weekend here. Great hotel about 20 mins in cab from the airport. We upgraded to a room with a balcony and it was 14€ p/night well spent. The balcony was huge with a table & chairs as well as 2 sun loungers. The view from the balcony was amazing overlooking the Arts & Science Centres. There are several bars & restaurants within 5 mins walk along with the Corte del Inglés dept store and Aqua Shopping Centre which also has many bars and eateries. The hotel is unbelievably quiet at night and we got 3 extremely good night's sleeps! Would highly recommend!

as great as the last time... a hotel i'll be returning to :-) great staff, good value, clean rooms, well located... near el corte ingles and a quick taxi ride to the beach or city centre :-)
the price is always reasonable and the general atmosphere friendly... only downside seems to becoming more popular!

Room Tip: all ok :-)

if you get metro from airport get on no.19 bus and drops you just around the corner. Bus 35 takes you into old city centre . reception staff very friendly and saved us from losing my daughters 'baa-ba' so shall forever be greatful to her for that. we had twin bed with bed for daughter at bottom. decent size rooms with great shower. pool small but does a job to cool down. close to shopping centre and few minutes from arts & sciences.would recommend this hotel. my daughter did not want to leave

Room Tip: we had 3rd floor room

The hotel is in a good location if you want to visit the science centre and oceanographic which are just across the road.
We were 3 adults in the room, nice enough room (great bathroom) just adequate.
Beach and old town are both a fair walk away from the hotel although, the old river bed in Valencia is a great spot they have transformed for walking around and taxis were cheap.
Hotel has a very small pool, there are no sunbeds offered (or we did not see them) you can obtain towels from the hotel and our trip was not about lying around the pool so this did not bother us too much. Would probably stay again if pushed but maybe next time would go nearer into the old town.
This hotel caters for lots of childrens parties, which was a little annoying when you come for a quiet weekend break.

Estimad@ amandar044,
