“ok, nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

The reception was gorgous but the rooms are VERY basic. I think for the money we payed we expected slightly more.
Didn't help we had screaming kids early in the morning by our room.
Aside from that, the hotel was ok but nothing special.

I stayed in this hotel for two nights, this weekend: I loved the hotel: it is very clean. it is a traditional style hotel, yet with a modern feel! The hotel staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. I felt that we mattered when we checked in, instead of being just a number!!! The hotel location is perfect, right in the city centre with plenty of bars restaurants and cafes within a few seconds walk: yet the location of the hotel is quiet! I booked this hotel for a birthday treat for a friend, based on Trip Advisor reviews! I could not have been more pleased. The hotel is delightful! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

Location is perfect. Right in the middle of the city with loads of bars, restaurants, cafes etc on your doorstep. The hotel itself was perfect. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful - really impressed - the hotel's management clearly focuses on customer service standards. The room was very tastefully decorated and nice and comfortable with all the amenities we needed. The breakfast was very good. Well stocked and the food was tasty. Great ham! The only small issue I had was because our room was over the breakfast room you could hear the sound of chairs scraping on the floor in the mornings. It didn't cause us a huge issue though.

Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Room Tip: 102 was lovely but slightly noisy in the morning

We were there for the Fallas celebration. Wow, what a great experience. The hotel was excellent. Some of our group did not have luggage arrive on time and the hotel had already supplied the rooms with necessary bathroom needs including razors. The staff was excellent and very friendly.
Very well located and could walk to any where in the old city .

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in April 2013. Our room (120) was spacious and airy with a good big bathroom and very comfy bed.It was elegantly furnished with plenty of wardrobe space. Even though we were at the front of the hotel overlooking a pedestrianised street with a small restaurant it was very quiet and peaceful at night.
The staff were very helpful & friendly and on the last day we were able to leave our suitcases all day in the hotel before our late flight home.
Breakfast was amazing. The buffet for just under €10each consisted of fruit juice, tea/coffee/drinks, fresh bread, cold meats & cheeses, vast selection of fresh fruit & yoghourt and small pastries to die for ( mini pain au chocolate, croissants, muffins, egg custard tarts etc etc ) I could go on. Excellent value for money For a small supplement (around €2) there was also bacon & eggs.
The location of this hotel is brilliant being only a short walk from the Metro station at Xatavia and the Estacion del Norte and only 10 minutes walk from the centre of the city (the cathedral area). Plenty of restaurants and bars close by (5-10minutes).
The restaurant in the hotel is open in the evenings but we did not try it.
If you want to visit the 'City of Arts & Sciences'-which we did-then it is a 30-40 minute walk. There is also the option of buses or taxis-all very regular & cheap!!
Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Worth every penny.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

We have just returned from a four night stay at the Vincci Lys.

On arrival, we were greeted personally by name before we even opened our mouths to speak, which was a lovely gesture. The man on reception was friendly, without being over familiar - a very good start.

When booking 8 months previously (direct with the hotel) I had requested, in writing, a high floor room with double bed. Rather disappointingly we were given a first floor room with twin beds! We didn’t complain as the room was large, spotlessly clean and extremely well maintained. It was situated at the rear of the hotel overlooking a rather unattractive wall but on the plus side, it was extremely quiet and we don’t go on a break to sit in our room so it made no difference.

The breakfast room was again clean and well-managed by the staff and the breakfast plentiful and certainly enough choice of food for a few days. I cannot understand why other guests found the breakfast to be a problem – what else would you have?

The hotel was perfectly situated on a lovely pedestrian street and really we couldn’t fault it.

On departure the reception staff was ready for our early start – 5am – with our bill prepared and a taxi waiting. In fact, the staff was so efficient and unobtrusive that it appeared that everything happened by magic and without any issue or problem. A very rare and impressive quality. That’s not to say they weren’t ready to help if you had a question or query.

We would definitely stay here again and would have no problem with recommending it to others.

Just a few recommendations for Valenica in general;
1. Enjoy paella at Le Pepica restaurant on Avenida de Neptuno (overlooking the beach).
2. Taste great fish at Taberna Alkazar, two streets behind the Vincci Lys on Mosen Fernades 11. Not cheap but good quality.
3. Climb to the top of the Miguelete tower at the Cathedral for fantastic views of Valencia. (If you are fit – it’s a bit of a climb!)
Wander around the Mercado Central and wonder at the excellent food produce on offer, even if you’re not self-catering!

Room Tip: Whilst rooms at the rear of the hotel don't have a good view, they are quiet.

I stayed at Vincci Lys during Easter 2013, so it wasn't scorching everyday. The cloudy days were perfect for wandering round the city...Vincci Lys was in a perfect location for this. The big Estacion del Nord is more or less around the corner and the plaza de la Reina is very close. The surroundings are very much a picture of traditional rustic Spain. There are lots of nice restaurants and tapas bars close by. The park and the beach are reachable by public transport, however we enjoyed the long very scenic stroll. The hotel was very nice, the staff were so friendly and eager for you to have an enjoyable stay. The rooms were very clean and looked lovely. Both the hotel and the city exceeded my expectations.
Get the Tourist Bus on the first day from the Plaza de la Reina. Valencia is a massive city and it is a good way to get your bearings and decide which places you want to see in more detail.
