“Great hotel, lovely staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

Had a really nice stay, great location, very nice view, room and bathroom were very good quality, and lovely comfortable bed.

The air-conditioning could have worked a bit better as other reviewers have mentioned, but it was ok.

The staff were really helpful and friendly. For 80-something euros in high season it was very good value.

The hotel is in an excellent central city location off a noisy, traffic infested street in an oasis of relative calm. So we would recommend it on this count and for the excellent staff who we found to be very friendly, helpful and welcoming... particular credit goes to Manuel, a night porter who sorted out one of our major grievances. Yet there are some serious shortcomings here which we believe are directly to do with management shortcomings and ' penny-pinching.' We have read old reviews about noise issues, noisy air-conditioning, the state of unmodernised rooms, the WIFI connection problem and so on and these issues still remain, so spoiling what could otherwise be a great place to stay. We requested a modernised higher floor room with balcony and quiet air-con and we were allocated to the 8th floor but it was very unmodernised, the air-con was noisy, no balcony, no mini-bar but a poor fridge and one stingy complementary bottle of water upon arrival only and the bathroom was well-worn, a bit grimy at the edges... so fairly disappointing for a week's stay. Worse followed, when we discovered that we were placed next to part of a large group of typically young Italians who behaved true-to-form, particularly late at night with shouting in the corridor outside and noise in their room that sounded like they were trashing it. We could hear everything because of very poor sound insulation combined with outrageously bad guest behaviour. To the reception staff's credit - and Manuel in particular who attended the scene and threatened police action against the group - we were moved the following morning and upgraded to a junior suite which restored our faith in the hotel. We found the WIFI to be a total disaster as the hotel uses a useless third party provider that fails to deliver yet the reception staff have to fool around with cutting up sheets of new connection codes on a daily, changing basis that still fails to work so we were forced to go to WIFI cafes and restaurants to get a simple and free connection: this is a serious management failure. Likewise with satellite TV channels which are very limited and no British ones. If returning to Valencia, we would try to find a better alternative to this hotel unless we could be sure that our grievances had been dealt with but we remain sceptical that this would be achieved by the chain that owns this hotel and although 4-star, some of the characteristics here would be unacceptable even in a '[Hostal Residencia.'

Stayed for 7 nights, the entrance to the hotel was really nice, our room was very spacious and comfortable even though the furniture was a little dated. The hotel was perfectly situated for sight seeing and restaurants etc.We were given a room overlooking the inside courtyard which was very quiet. The chambermaids were very friendly and the rooms were spotless. Breakfast was superb at only 10 euros! We were a little disappointed that we were unable to eat in the restaurant due to it being closed for August. Overall a very enjoyable stay and would definitely return!

A nice touch was the big jug of iced water that we could help ourselves to at check in.
The hotel is in a perfect location in a quiet square only minutes walk from the town hall square. it is well furnished, and our room was spacious and comfortable.
In the afternoon, when we arrived it felt nice and cool, but during the night our room became overbearingly stuffy, so we opened the windows to be able to breathe.
We were offered a breakfast deal at 10 euros each, which was pretty good value.
The girl at reception said we could have called an aircon engineer in anytime 24 hours, which we were not aware of.
Apart from the aircon problem the hotel was great.

Room Tip: We were in 803, the top floor is non-smoking

Booked 6 nights on Ayre because of its prime location in Valencia. Situated by a beautiful and quiet square, still just a few meters from all the action. Entrance and halls are really nice, but the rooms are in need of renovation. The furniture is old, but ok condition. Walls and carpets very worn, which they really should do something about. Beds a bit hard, but still gives a good nights sleep. Bathroom in standard condition. Except from the location being the hotels main advantage point, it is also the very friendly staff. Always giving service with a smile! After seeing a few hotels in Valencia, Ayre gives the best value for the price

Stayed at the Ayre holiday during the summer and felt right at home. The staff were very friendly. At first glance, the hotel was light and airy, however once in the corridor going to our room, it was very dark and smelt a bit.
The air conditioning was working fine in our room which was a God send as it was boiling outside.
What made the hotel for me was the breakfast. Breakfast was served from 7 - 11am on the 9th floor. This gave for panoramic views across the city of Valencia. A great start to the day! The orange juice served was just divine. I would highly recommend the breakfast option at this hotel!
Would definitely stay again, as the location is just incredible!
