Hostal El Cid is conveniently located in the city's historic center and very close to all sorts of public transportation. It is not easily accessible for disabled people, baby/children prams, for those who hate climbing stairs or those that cannot climb stairs.
Staff is friendly and gave us lots of tips.
I have stayed in two different rooms: one ensuite with a double bed, which was cosy, well-furnished and had air conditioning. It also had curtains and blinds and was very silent. Its renovation was probably recent because everything was sort of new. The other room was a twin-bed room without a bathroom, and this room was much worse than the first one: it was clearly much older, no recent renovation, it had no air conditioning, only a really noisy fan (this can be a big problem with the Valencian Summer temperatures!); despite being on the 4th floor, the room was very noisy. Apart from that, you do not have Internet access in the room because clearly the signal is not strong enough (and it was already weak on the 3rd floor). To make matters even worse on the 4th floor, neither of the available bathrooms had ventilation nor windows, so it got extremely hot in there. The bathrooms also needes urgent refurbishing.
Regarding value for money, I would say the price is OK for the double room, but too high for the twin room. No breakfast included, but towels and linen are included in the price.
My global appreciation was good for the double room, but terrible for the twin room on the 4th floor.
Ask for A/C and stay away from the 4th floor
