I stayed in this hotel with my friends,was really nice tidy and very modern.
Great price for money which we paid.
I will be back soon.

So we arrived at La Cala late at night. The taxis didnt know where the hotel was so make it clear. Rooms are really nice and modern. Little plasma, leather sofa, wooden furniture. We asked for a low floor and we were put on floor 16 out of 24.
Next Morning we went to the pool. Not a huge rampage to get a spot. The old lifeguard was here at the beginning of our holiday. He had a really bad attitude problem. But there is a new one called Fernando and he is really nice. The hotel is strict about you having a shower first though. No sun loungers at all that was really bad. Floor gets really hot in day so bring some footwear. Pool is quite relaxing. Hotel isnt overlooked.
My two twin girls made friends quickly with some other english children the same age and there is some really nice people around.
The call girls don't bother you one bit but it is quite sad because they are there 24/7. A few strip clubs in area but they are silent and there is no noise.
A small beach is a straight walk down where the market is. The market is only a couple of metres away.The beach is absolutely stunning. There is a bar called Bay View what does the best English food. It is run by friendly english people.
Food is a downer though. It is ok at the beggining of your holiday but it is the same. It is all boiled ribs, fishcakes, and stringy beef. Not much taste. We were half board and the last few days we went out for our dinner. Have to pay for drinks in evening. The waiters are lovely especially the man who had really good manners for a spanish man.The gym is small and not very efficent. There is also a massage place but i never went in there.
There is also internet kiosk which you pay for. There is also a games area with air hockey, pool, snooker and football tennis.
There are vending machines also all around the hotel.
The maids are very clean and they come everyday for towels and sheets.
I would give JM La Cala *** because it wasnt the best holiday ever.

I have stayed here 3 times so far, never longer than 2 nights. There are so many reviews about this place and to be fair to most of the bad ones, this is a JM Hotel which in Spain is classed as a pretty good stopover. So lets knock the hookers outside on the head first, this hotel is the first hotel you come to from a Industrial Estate on the main road, there is nothing before it and surrounded immediatley by it which you will only see at night is 2 Clubs, the sex clubs that are common in Spain, so its no real suprise there maybe 2 or 3 girls usually of african / eastern european decent hanging on the walls to the side / opposite the hotel. There is not much mention of this in the reviews which leads me to believe most english tourists are to Naive to believe they are prostitutes, They are not in your face so I dont believe it should be a major issue.

As for the parking, I park in the hotel for free and dont tell them I have a car, is paces are limited - there is a huge amount of parking behind the hotel and a gap in the fence which I guess is for the staff so its no big deal to walk, in fact its quicker to park at the back and get to your apartment than the back.

The rooms, I feel are small but pretty awesome and very modern, some would say luxurey to others, I dont believe any expense has been sparred on the rooms from JM Hotels - compared to others I have had in bendorm, People here have moaned about the Air con, my opinion of that is they dont know how aircon works as this was one of the coolest apartments I have stayed in,

Travel - well yes its far from anywhere but there are good bus links, the bus stop is not as far as others make out, research the busses if you dont have a car. If you dont have a car I would thionk about staying elsewhere, but for me if you get the right bus its not that bad, Its just knowing when to get off or where to change.

I have to concur with all those who have reviewed under 'Terrible' or 'Poor.

Following the 22 loungers for 450 guests fight, I can report now there are now no loungers! That solved that problem?

Food is very poor. Tried to turn up the 'Warning - plates are HOT' plate oven but nothing happened over the 2 days. Spanish seemed to 'like' to food but I'm not so sure. Noticed that the staff tried to recycle mucky black table clothes (made of paper) and only discarded if they were spotted by a guest. Place and surrounds are a dump in decline and I suspect the hotel may be in a recession accelerated decline.

For information, we walked to the Gran Bali hotel nearby (the tallest hotel in Europe) and noticed the HB rack rate for 2 sharing a room would be €50 LESS than JM. That hotel is superb and we checked out the restaurants, pools, bars and evening entertainment - all good and absolutely a much better place to be.
