“Terrible Place.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014

We initially booked to stay for 3 night but only lasted one !! Where to start ???
1. The place stank. It was terrible, obviously a problem with the plumbing, but it made us feel sick.
2. The room, OMG !!! We were on the 7th floor in a room with no locking patio door !!! I didn't feel safe for the whole time I was there. We were right underneath the rooftop terrace that you could hear people walking on ! It contained 2 little camp beds (I have slept on better in a tent) that just felt dirty !!
3. I couldn't even bring myself to consider eating there, apart from the smell, the dining room was dirty.
4. The nightly 'Cabaret' was appalling !! Entertainment should contain people with talent, not a bunch of fools, over dressed and miming to songs. That type of 'entertainment' was funny (ish) 25 years ago !!
Overall, the place was a huge let down and an insult to the 'pink pound' that seems to be there target market.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a locking door !!!

We are sorry that you decided to leave after one night. It was a shame that you did not give us an opportunity to offer you a different room nor mention any issues with either staff on duty at the time you checked-out.

We are a budget guest house, rates were 19€ pppn on your date of stay and we clearly state that we offer simple rooms on our website and booking site. We note your comment about the balcony door not locking. In 10 years we have never had a break in and certainly would not expect anyone to enter a room from a 7th floor balcony! We offer secure safes for valuables in all our rooms.

Sadly all premises in the old suffer with Spanish drains on occasions, it is not an issue with the hotel but the public system. It affects all hotels and bars in the old town from time to time. Even the best 4* hotels in the old town suffer with drains from time to time.

We have a very high guest return rate who enjoy our central location, cheap room rates and laid back atmosphere. Sorry that we did not suit your needs on this occasion.

We are a straight couple (now retired) living in Spain and on my bucket list was to return to Benidorm after 40years and visit the Royal Queens.
.
Glad we did, thank you guys for a real good time. Gary you were great every morning with a smile and serving a good breakfast cooked to order served outside because thats where to chose to eat.
Rob was lovely (the barman at night) serving our evening meal (I say evening meal but was surprised to hear they would serve you your half board meal from 2pm till 11pm if you wanted. What other place could provide that service and the food was nice (bit too English for my taste after living in Spain but they cater for the majority of their clients and what they do, they do well.).
Luis the owner is working hard to put the place back on the map. Keep up the good work and regards to your partner.
The negative is the rooms need some attention, well ours did anyway but after saying that it was clean and the cleaning lady was lovely and did a good job.

Loved James one of the Queens girls in the cabaret act we spent time chatting with him and he's lovely (missing you already James).

Loved the folks we meet there.

We stayed on the 3 night 99euro half board deal then had two nights at another hotel around the corner but found ourselves gravitating back to Queens because we enjoyed the people and atmosphere there so much.

We also savoured the Spanish culture of the ' Fallas' festival held in Benidorm at this time of year but you can do your own research on this.

Thank you so much for all the positive feedback about the Queens, staff, show and food. Always great to get feedback from people who live in Spain. Everyone works very hard to ensure that the service and food is up to a high standard. And as you said our half board option available from 2pm until 11pm is of course hugely popular as is our three night deal which you booked.

We noted you comments on the room and are aware that we do need to update which we are gradually doing as economics allow! As you mentioned the room though dated are kept clean by our great house keeping staff who do a good job.

We look forward to seeing you again when you next visit Benidorm.

We have just got back from 4 nights at the Royal Queens Hotel, and what a positive experience. Lets start off with the staff: Very friendly and helpful. In the mornings you were greeted by Gary downstairs serving the breakfasts and starting off the day with a smile. Then in the evenings you were looked after by a young Spanish Barman (his name escapes me now!) who we had a number of jokes regarding the flavour of the cheesecakes. Secondly the rooms were very clean. Bed and towels changed everyday. Tea and coffee provided. Although very basic and a few DIY mishaps you are getting what you paid for so don't let it put you off. Finally the food was excellent with a good range of starters for example a peach filled with tuna (strange combination, but it works-It was my favourite) compliments to the chef for thinking of that. Main courses were designed for Brits...very good indeed.

One thing it does lack is a pool (or some kind of meeting area). I know this can't be helped because of location...but maybe some sunbeds on the top terrace)

Overall fantastic hotel....very close to the shops and bars. Will stay again and recommend to anyone thinking of staying here.

Thank you for taking the time to write your thoughts on the Queens. We are so pleased you had a good time and enjoyed the food and found our staff looked after you well.

Glad you found the rooms clean and good value if a bit dated. We are a basic low cost option and whilst we will never make everyone happy most of our many return guests enjoy our central location and small prices.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

The Queens hotel was fantastic value for money. We seem to have had the exact opposite experience to blackwidow747. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The meal we had was one of the best fish dishes I have had in Spain. The show was different every night and the artistes made a point of coming to each table to speak to their audience. The room was basic, which is to be expected at the price we paid however there was some TV which is more than I have had in more expensive accommodation in Albir, plus the room was very clean, as was the bathroom and the view from the balcony was good for people watching with the added extra of a view of the sea and the mountains! The roof terrace was much improved from my last stay again with sea views. Altogether the Royal Queens is a very friendly hospitable place to stay, in the centre of the Old Town which is so different from "Benidorm" shown on TV. We will both return very soon.

Stayed at the Queens on a 28 day package over Christmas & New Year. Had a great time. The staff, from the owner Luis, to reception, bar staff, chefs, cleaner, EVERYONE is so friendly and they go out of their way to make you welcome and ensure that you enjoy your stay. This atmosphere encourages the guests to relax and make friends with other guests easily.
The rooms are clean and pleasant even though they are called basic, the beds comfortable and a great bonus is tea & coffee making facilities in room replenished daily.
The food is superb and so filling and the soups of the day are the tastiest you'll find anywhere. My friend is vegetarian and the chef cooked him a special dish every night which was delicious. The location is perfect, in the centre of the Old Town, with its bustle and ambience and 1 minute to the beach. The views from the roof terrace are fantastic with tables and chairs to relax in the sunshine with a drink and a book.
We'll definately be booking up to stay at The Queens again - and again -and again!

I have just returned from a six week half board stay,(Nov.27th-8th Jan)!
My room that was on the 7th floor at the front of the hotel, had a large terrace with large rectangular table and chairs! I had a very comfortable double bed, English T.V. complete fully fitted bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities,(which was replenished daily)!
There is also a fantastic rooftop sun terrace(complete with MORA the Cock a too)
with great panoramic views of the surrounding hills and Levante and Poniente beaches!
The half board consisted of "full English" breakfast, served from 9am till 11am!.
The "Evening "meal consisted of three courses, chosen from the menu of the day, and was served from 1pm till 10-30pm and as the name suggests, changed "daily".
As for people complaining about the quality of the food, all I can say is that they are not used to FRESH VEG cooked PROPERLY ,real mash potatoes, Not "smash",!!!! Carrots and cauliflower with "bite" not a nondescript mush left festering in look warm water for hours on end, or is it that they just forgot to bring their dentures!! And oh! those home made sweets,(little Alex) Apple pie with cinnamon, and all types of cheese cake, ALL freshly made (NOT ICELAND) as stated by some folk!!
Excellent staff, great Dutch Chef Harry, Mercedes, the Gerente (manageress),and New owner and all the rest do their upmost to make you feel special, Virtu, the chambermaid was siempre tener...(always singing) and so cheerful! Gary,Roberto and Ali fantastic bar and waiting staff!!
And as for "homophobic staff, all I can say is ,that person must have been so outrageous ,for them to have had to say something to him!

Room Tip: Book early to get best rooms, floors 5,6 and7 have sea views from both front and side of hotel.
