“wouldnt go back”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2009

arrived at these apartments on the friday and thought they were ok,they could do with a good clean, not that big as other reviews had stated, balcony was large and faced the sun,the apartment did smell quite bad, sewage smell, but we cured this by putting in the bath and sink plugs and keeping bathroom door shut,we thought only here for a week so the apartments would be ok,we went out and got back about midnight,as we had travelled that day we had an early night, just as well we did, from about two in the morning till about seven, there was shouting, banging, football songs, doors being kicked and banged all from the apartment next door and theres only 2 apartments to a floor,it was horrendous,i thought about asking them to be quiet but didnt fancy being chucked from the 19th floor, then at seven we at last got some sleep,we complained to the man on the desk in the morning and he said he would have a word and to be fair it was a lot better, but the same stag party used to go round the pool shouting and swearing and singing those moronic football songs, they even had a megaphone that made it worse, when they went home on the monday the whole place felt better, when the stag and hens go home benidorm feels better, unless benidorm is carefull it will go the same way as blackpool, downhill, when i booked these apartments they said suitable for couples and families, its not if your there at weekends.i wish the holiday companys would stop mixing stag and hens with couples and families it dosnt work ,benidorm still great holiday destination though.

Stayed at the playa mar with my husband for our first trip to Benidorm, paid £190 for a week for flights and accomadation, real bargain, outside these apartments look a bit old and run down, but they were ok once in, clean and very roomy, the balcony was massive, best balcony we have had anywhere we have stayed, cant moan about anything, we got what we paid for and had a great time, no noisy neighbours, lifts always worked, staff were ok but its not a 5 star hotel and was a great base and very near the market which was great, would go again if the price was right.

Booked one week commencing 21 April. We had stayed there before. It is in a quiet area but not much walking to get to the bars restaurants etc. This time however it was not quiet.

It was full of hen and stag parties staying for long weekends/3 -4 days. They were by the pool most of the afternoon and well into the evening and by 6.00 o'clock were stripping off into the pool and throwing everything that was not nailed down into it. All this time the barman continued to serve them drinks.

In the evening they were very noisy in their apartments and every morning woke the rest of us up coming in at 7.30!!

Reading the varius free papers it seems that there are now a lot of break ins/muggings in Benidorm due to the credit crunch although we were safe. I suspect that the hen and stag parties are targeted as they drink so much that they are not as safe as they should be.

Overall impressions are that the whole of the block needs an upgrade.

We will not be going back again and instead will rent a privately owned apartment.

Just returned from a long weekend at the Playamar from 24th April - 27th April. As soon as we checked in we had to pay 100 euro's per room, this was not specified when we booked the holiday. It was for any breakage or damage that we may cause to the hotel!!! Little did we know that it was the hotel that was going to break us. On our last night there we went out for a few drinks to come back and find that our room was broken into. They ramsacked the place and stole everything!!! All our valuables and money were stolen and our clothes were thrown all over the place. They even took my friends case so she had no where to put her clothes. The hotel Manager was not interested when we told him, he was working in the bar and was not even going to come to the room and see what had happened until we went berserk. We then had to contact the police and surprise, surprise they were not that interested either. There are no safety deposit boxes either.

Apart from our misfortune the Playamar was dirty, dark and a bit out from the main nightlife. We did not feel safe in the Apartments.

I would not recommend these apartments to my worst enemy so if you are thinking about going for a cheap getaway think again, it may cost you much more than you expect.
