We booked six nights half board to get away from the snow in England. We chose this hotel for its location as we wanted to walk along both beaches and be near Benidorm Old Town. We were not disappointed- 5 or so minutes to Zara, Mango, old town restaurants and both beaches. We even walked to the open air market on Wednesday as we had just missed the half hourly bus across the road from the hotel. Sadly the weather 24th Feb- 1st March was poor, we even had tornadoes along the beach and torrential rain. Never mind-we were in the Tapas bars in the old town watching the local TV coverage of the snowbound mountain villages!! We had a few good nights at the nearby Tower Lounge, even one of the acts was snowed in!
We had a twin/ balcony room on the 14th floor with views of Benidorm Island. It was spacious and airy and I agree with previous comments about the mildewy bathroom. Also the soap and shower gel dispensers needed a good clean out but I took my own anyway. . The sheets were GORGEOUS. NB someone above us and next door clip clopped in heels on the tiled floor during the night ?whilst packing, and we had to ask next door to be quiet at 4am as they were talking loudly in Spanish! We used the small indoor pool twice and would've had a sauna but this was locked, you had to pay another six euros I think to use it and there was no one on the pool reception at the time. The restaurant we found to be quite good. We had freshly made omelettes and gazpacho for breakfast with free chilled Cava!
Yes- you had to have a token for freshly squeezed orange juice but could drink as much Cava as you liked!! A cooked 'English' breakfast was available and always cheese, Serano ham, fruit, pastries etc .At dinner there were always 2 soup choices, pate, salads etc followed by either pork, steak, fish, chicken or rabbit. Veg was a bit overdone but there were always fresh pineapple slices, pears in red wine, ice cream and cake. Drinks at dinner were payable in the restaurant but were reasonable. Friday night was gala buffet night and we enjoyed a plate of salmon, smoked salmon and 'shell on' prawns as well as the usual other steak and chips etc. The staff were always helpful and friendly and I'm happy to say requested that a Spanish man join the queue while we waited to check in. We would return to this hotel at a warmer time of year- luckily we had taken wool coats and scarves but still had to buy a jumper and some leggings. Strangely, the week before it had been 21 degrees but it's unpredictable and it barely got into double figures for us..
