I have recently returned from a weeks stay in Benidorm, at the La Era Park.
I will say at the start of this review that when the holiday was booked it was on a budget and trip advisor was consulted to find the best rated hotel within the budget for this trip.
The transfer to the airport was quite painless; the coach took us to the first drop off point and then transferred us to a mini bus as the road to La Era Park is on a small road with parking along the side and an extremely tight turn at the top making it more or less impossible for access by coach.
That being said the location of the hotel couldn’t be better with the beach, Old Town, and New Town very accessible by foot.
Check in at the hotel was quick and easy. Having read reviews I was expecting to have to pay a deposit for the room and was pleasantly surprised when I found out that this wasn’t required. When I booked the hotel I requested a room on the upper floors, and was advised that the hotel was fully booked and Sunday is the main changeover day and was offered the choice of a room on either the fifth or seventh floors.
For the money I paid, I was very impressed by the size of the room, which consisted of a well equipped kitchen, bathroom, a lounge area with a double sofa bed and a bedroom with two single beds. Both the lounge and the bedroom lead out to a huge balcony providing good views over Benidorm and out to sea. Although the rooms were clean the bathroom was showing signs of its ageing and would benefit from being updated.
The only downside about the hotel is the fact that the hotel has very thin walls. I know that the hotel can’t be responsible for the guest to whom they rent rooms to, but I was kept awake at night due to our noisy neighbours. They had no volume control and when they were having conversation it felt like I was in the room with them! At all times of the day and night you could hear conversations, screaming, music and other things that don’t need to be mentioned. The girls were also standing out on their balcony having arguments with other guests about the noise.
I had cause to complain to reception on a number of occasions, where phone calls were made and they were asked to keep the noise down. Things quietened down for about 20 minutes or so and then they were back at it.
After a night of only 1 hours sleep, and being quite annoyed at the reception, I was offered a change of room and was put up on the top floor. I so wish I had of complained sooner!
This room had been updated recently and had a lot nicer bathroom. The views from the balcony were also amazing, with clear views over the top of all other buildings around you.
The hotel is in a great location with good value for money rooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful apart from the guy behind the bar. When I asked him how to get to the bus stop he put his hand out as if he was expecting me to give him money, when I refused he couldn’t speak any English!!!
I would return to this hotel again, but would insist on a room at the top.
