This was my sixth or seventh visit to this great little hotel. It is by no means the best or most luxurious hotel in Spain or Benidorm for that matter, but it lives up exactly to it's three star rating, giving great value for money. We stayed for seven nights on a half board basis from16 – 23 October 2012.
Fast efficient and friendly and our request for a high floor was immediately accommodated on the 10th floor (one from the top). We picked a car of for the week at the airport and parking at the hotel is charged at €10 per day, discounted to €40 if you are there for the week. A small fridge in our room was unlocked for the duration of your stay and comes with a couple of soft drinks and some bottled water, all for €10. A safe deposit box comes in at a further €15 for the week.
The rooms are on the small side, but perfectly comfortable and more than adequate for two people. The balcony is glassed in with fully opening windows and contains a folding bed, two chairs and a table. There is a privacy screen which effectively converts the balcony into a small bedroom. The bathroom contains toilet, bidet, wash hand basin, mirror, bath / shower and hair dryer. Our accommodation was kept spotlessly clean during our visit, as were all areas of the hotel as far as I could see. As A/C is not available out of season, the balcony can get very warm in the latter part of the day as the sun sets. The view from the balcony must be amongst the best in Benidorm.
The fare on offer at breakfast rarely varies with fried and scrambled egg, bacon, frankfurters, beans, a selection of cold meats, cheese, bread, cereals, fruit juice, tea and coffee. All very acceptable. During dinner, the whole atmosphere of the restaurant alters. It is busy, noisy and just the way a restaurant should be. It is run with great efficiency by the head waiter and I have never seen waiters work so hard clearing tables. Some of the four / five star hotels I've been to could learn a thing or two here. The food is good without being great. The cold counter always contains a varied selection of cold meats, cheese, pickles, Russian Salad, rice etc. along with all the salad staples. At the hot counter there would always be fish, a freshly cooked cut of meat (veal was my favourite) and perhaps a stew along with chips, potatoes and veg. On the whole, the food was decent, honest and flavoursome. I'm no wine buff, I either like it or I don't. The restaurant wine list offered white, red or rose at €5 a bottle. At €5 it tasted decent enough to me. There were a number of more expensive wines to choose from.
A comfortable, well appointed bar / lounge which offers access to a terrace overlooking the Levante beach. Bar prices are extremely reasonable, around €2.50 for a pint of Amstel, coffee €1.60.
There's a small covered pool just outside the lounge and while there is room to sunbath, it can get extremely cramped. If you're a real sun worshipper, the beach is literally two minutes away.
This hotel is a great favourite of mine and it is the only one we will use on our annual visit to Benidorm. It doesn't try to be anything it's not.
